If all you believe about Joseph Smith is correct then the Church he founded is even more of a miracle. Can you find anything good about people who give constant service to the poor and unfortunate throughout the world. When major disasters happen anywhere in the world the Mormons are usually the first to arrive with food, bedding, and other needed supplies. We are prepared with over 100 warehouses and canneries in the U.S. Most stakes (diocese)have a Church farm, all run by volunteers. Women in many local wards will make 400 quilts, birthing kits, hygiene kits, etc; each year, on an ongoing basis. Thousands of wheel chairs have been donated throughout the world. Hundreds of water wells have been dug in Africa. We had a fast day for starving Ethopia some years ago,6 million dollars was raised in one day. The Church produces over 20,000 tons of Atmit (an enriched cereal) for the very young and very old in Ethopia every year and delivers it No Charge. Members fast the first Sunday of each month and the money is used for the poor of the world. We have a Perpetual Education fund, 38,000 worthy young men and women in underdeveloped countries have received education and training thus far, lifting them out of grinding poverty. Thousands more will follow this new program. These members, as they can, payback the monies they receive from member contributions to keep the program growing.
We are small, about 3 million families. If every Christian Church throughout the world would have a monthly “Fast”day and contribute that money to the poor we could wipe out poverty in the world. We have no salaried people at the local level, this allows us to build chapels and temples all over the world that are paid for when comleted.
I would invite you to contact the local LDS church, visit our canneries and farms, visit The Bishops storehouse where the poor get free food as needed.
All this, and more comes from the teachings of Ol Joe Smith.

I missed a couple of appropriate scriptures:

Luke 10:30,33,36,37 The Samartian and the man on his
way to Jericho. The Savior used the hated Samaritan as an example and said, “Go and do thou likewise”

I would suggest to you: Get rid of the hate and follow The Savior.

________________________________________________

Paragraphs are your friends, n00b...

But for this first sentence...

Joey Smith hadf a con going that made him the equivilant of one million dollars when he got to Nauvoo, IL...

Some misguided fool DONATED aq lot of land to his followers...

But Joey smith, ever the thief on the make...SOLD the lots to his followers instead...

Oh, yes, he had “miraculous” success in his life...

Let’s see the “miracles”...

1. He had a “miracle” idea when he was about 25 to say that an angel ...no let’s make it a god...noooooooo two gods would be better...visited him back when he was 17...noooo 16,...noo, wait 15...oh shoot it was 14...yes 14...and told him ...he was ahh well doin alright...but everyone else was ...wrong ...yeah bad...no...abomnible...to start his own new scam...ah...religion...Jersus had failed...he would pick up the slack and succeed where Jesus had failed...He would be president of the United States and king of the world..a “miracle”...

2. He had women to bed ...If they said no he had “miraculous” enticements...angels with flaming swords, tickets to the mormon after life for her family, etc...

3. He had bank scams...and a fast horse to “miraculously” get out of town when he was fined $1,000 1838...

4. He had “miraculous” stones to put inh his hat...and read “reformed Egyptian”...a miracle since nobody before or since has ever read or spoken such a ;anguage...

5. He had a “miracle” bar in which he sold “miracle” liquer..that enabled he and his followers to have “miracle” visions...those pink elephants and yellow warthogs can dance up quite a “church” experience...

6. He had a “miracle” vigilantee group of cutthroats he called the Avenging Angels or Danites that roamed far and wide murdering and robbing people Joey Smith didnt like...

7. He had a “miracle” day when he joined the Masonic lodge and went from applicant to top dog in one day...

8. He had a “miracle” inspiration and incorporated the masonic practices into his homemade scam “religion”..whatever works...

9. Finally, he had a “miracle” death...every “hero” goes out with a bang...Joey Smith committed suicide by Masons who were disgusted with the Miracle Man and his criminal ways..and his betrayal of their secrets and his misuse of their practices..by getting liquered up and shootin his way out of jail...

10. Another miracle would be that the mormon god didnt listen to joey Smith when he said that he “prophecied” that he would live to 80, that there were Quakers living on the moon, that the mormon god lived on a planet called Kolob, that the only way to go to the mormon after life was to have sex with lots of very young girls, that Jesus was coming back in the late 1800s...

My, my....just think of all the good the LDS Church could do if they spent the $3,000,000,000.00 dollars on helping the downtrodden instead of building a fancy shopping mall.

It astounds doesn’t it? LDS Inc. now admitting City Creek mall will cost $3 billion”, did anyone happen to mention the cost per active church member. If there are 5.5 million active LDS members, then 3.0 billion divided by 5.5 million will equal $545 per every man woman and child who are active members worldwide, many of whom come from economically depressed third world countries - how far would those funds have gone to feed and clothe them?

Yet they refused to help the women and children from the Texas FLDS group. They further refuse to help the boys kicked out of FLDS groups in S. Utah.

My aunt became a mormon just so she could get food handouts. They wouldn’t support her any other way. Lots of strings attached to those handouts.

BINGO

Now, kid...Nana will teach you something about this subject...

No, that’s OK...you dont have to pay me...my privilege...

Stop kissing my foot and just read...

No Christian Church that I know of brags that they give with one hand and demands repayment with the other...

But the mormon religion does...

The mormons dont give or do anything for anyone without benefits to themselves...

So much for how “wonderful” they are...

Christians give without expecting anything in return...

And when Christians give they dont have a press conference and brag and lie about it...

I hope that the mormon cult dont claim taxes on that psuedo “giving”...

Let’s see what Jesus said about giving...

“Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in Heaven. Matthew 6:1

So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. Matthew 6:2

But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, Matthew 6:3

In other words...DONT BRAG TO NANA..

And DONT POST SELF-RIGHTEOUS JUNK IN THE RELIGIOUS FORUM...

People wil KNOW you dont follow the teachings of Jesus...

Let’s take a realistic look at charitable giving by the LDS Church. It is difficult since the LDS Inc is so remiss in giving out information about its finances, but....

Gordon B Hinckley stated in 2004 that the church has donated 75 million to charitable organizations since 1982. If you estimate 3 million tithe payers, divide by 22 (yrs), divide by 12 (mo), you come up with 9 cents per member per month. Don’t you think that is generous? Well, not so generous if you take into account the over $500.00 per member spent for a shopping mall.

I kinda makes me sick.

Just 9 cents eh ???

I was thinking this was bad...

In Post #928 lawsone had said...

“We had a fast day for starving Ethopia some years ago,6 million dollars was raised in one day.”

Since the mormons who have been around for years have told us there are 13,000,000 mormons...

That means each one only gave 50 cents...

50 cents for ALL day ???

Hadnt a sacrifice ...50 cents wouldnt buy one meal...let alone three...

But 9 cents and bragging on it is worse...

BTW I’m told that the stuff given out of the warehouses is usually the old outdated stuff..

stuff the “fake profit” Munson would not eat himself...

RE: your tagline. Mormons don’t need defending. No one here is attacking mormons.

Mormonism most assuredly, but not mormons. Good people that are mislead aren’t in the crosshairs. You really need to take a good hard look at the information being presented to you and not summarily dismiss nor try to defend against it.

Open your eyes, ears and heart to what is being posted. The truth is being laid right at your feet by people who know.

How can Mormons be good people? Do you believe what Jesus Christ said. “An evil tree canot produce good fruit. Matt 7:16 through 20.
If we are all mislead but are still “good people” how does that square with The Savior said?

It would be incumbent upon you to answer your own question since you are the one with the tagline “Defending Mormons”.

I only included that comment to dissuade arguments contrary to the discussion at hand.

You appear to have chosen to miss or ignore the entire point of my post to you.
