Kickoff Rally a Huge Success!
Hi everyone! We've now launched the Tea Party Express II: Countdown to Judgment Day with a giant rally in San Diego. It was incredible!! The crowd was huge - numbering in the thousands! The sun was shining on this naval town with our rally on the water and the U.S.S. Midway serving as the backdrop. Sorry Keith Olbermann and any critics of the Tea Party Express - but "We The People" came together in San Diego today and our voice was heard!
I can't begin to tell you how exciting the event was and how meaningful it was for all of us. If you were there you know the energy that radiated through the crowd.
The speakers at the rally were great - including nationally syndicated radio talk show host, Roger Hedgecock and California conservative hero, Chuck DeVore, who is challenging Barbara Boxer for Congress. The musical performers were great. It just doesn't get any better than this.
We'll be posting continuous updates on the tour at our blog: http://teapartyexpressblog.blogspot.com/
And we've seen EXPLOSIVE growth in the number of people RSVP'ing to come to a Tea Party Express rally. We need you to RSVP and then click the "Invite People to Come" link (it's located under the square logo on the upper right portion of the page). You can RSVP for a rally, and invite others to come here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=162165327131
And now our strategy is to look down the schedule and see what events are coming up that need our focus and attention so we can build larger crowd sizes. We know the media and liberal activists (some people like Keith Olbermann are both) are just wating for us to have a small crowd size so they can say the tea party movement is "failing" or falling apart. We want to show the world that this movement is GROWING and getting bigger, and stronger, each day!
I will be there.
Great! See you there!
Great turnout—thanks for the update!
I was at L.A. rally at Griffith Park, Los Angeles on Sunday. It was great but the locale did not provide enough parking and there were no signs pointing the way. Even near end of rally and entertainment people were still trying to get in.
I was told police shut down some roads (others were closed due to construction) due to extreme traffic. I got there very early and happened to see someone with a flag and just followed them into the meeting/parking area.
My strong advice would be that people attending future parties across the country plan to arrive an hour or more ahead of rally, if at all possible, especially if they are unsure of the particulars re parking, etc.
So, my suspicion is that we had at least half again as many attendees as actually showed up meandering around the area, trying to find their way in.
I met people who had been to similar events in recent months but more who were doing this for the FIRST TIME EVER! This movement is definitely growing and people getting more and more enthused.
We shouted down the little crowd of those with opposing views, with their mass produced signs, etc. Naturally ABC’s local affiliate showed up and filmed, but mostly THEM, not us. Our people had to do our own filming and they did!
Had we been at the Federal Building in Westwood we’d have had a huge turnout but this was rather last minute as it was originally slated for Anaheim in Orange County.
I hope we see many more photos — everyone was energized and waving handmade signs as well as wearing buttons, tee-shirts and waving American and Dont Tread on Me flags!!!
Good luck as the buses continue their tour — hope everyone who possibly can do so will get out there and attend these gatherings in coming days. I’m anxious to hear how Bakersfield is going today..........
California conservative hero, Chuck DeVore, who is challenging Barbara Boxer for Congress.
I’ll be there, too, with a bunch of friends and family. Wish you could have made arrangements to do it at Mt. Rushmore. That would have been awesome! I hope all of you have time to make the trip up to the Monument.
Really looking forward to seeing all of you.
Thanks for the great pictures and report.
See you in Denver!
Do you have a good guess as to what the weather will be like when we roll through?
Hmmm...it's a toss up. We are expecting snow tonight, but it could be cool and sunny the next day. I'll let you know when it gets closer.
