When John McHugh, Republican Congressman from New Yorks 23rd District, accepted President Obamas nomination to become the Secretary of the Army on June 2, no one could have predicted that less than three weeks before the special election to replace him on November 3 a Democrat would be leading in the polls. But thats exactly what has happened. A Siena Institute Poll released on October 15 shows Democrat Bill Owens leading in this rural upstate district with 33 % of the vote, followed by Republican Dede Scozzafava with 29%, and Conservative Doug Hoffman with 23%. If Owens wins in November 3 it will mark the first time a Democrat has represented the district since the Civil War.

1. The four county chairpersons who gave Scozzafava, the liberal, her majority were all women.
2. Six of the seven county chairpersons who supported Maroun or Doheney, the conservatives, were men.
I'm just sayin'...
Our local GOP has 3 clubs and its the Women’s Club who do the heavy lifting. They are also TEA partiers and 9/12 marchers.
Of course, this is Texas
Hmm. Thanks for the details. It confirms everything that we have been told earlier.
“His withdrawal of the Conservative Party line endorsement from Assemblywoman Scozzafavva in her 2004, 2006, and 2008 races is a clear example of this commitment to principle.”
It was no secret that the Conservative Party would not support this liberal jerk. They had snubbed her for three elections running, and had publicly declared they would never support her. And apparently it was also made clear at the meeting.
Detailed article and good read on what led to the coronation of a moonbat ACORN/Kos-supported RINO in NY-23.
WOW. That was fascinating & disgusting at the same time.
Great Post about how this was no accident.
very SHADY!
"I was approached by someone in Dede Scozzafava's sphere who said she wanted to meet with me. I said this is going nowhere, but they persisted, so I agreed to meet with Dede in Lake Placid. At the meeting, which took place just a few weeks before the Republican County Chairmen met in Potsdam to select their nominee, she told me that the Democrats had been talking to her about running in the special election as a Democrat. 'Wouldn't you rather be with the winner?' she asked me. I came away from that meeting convinced that she was completely devoid of any principle."
No, it was no accident. Scozzafava may not care if she wins or not at this point. The race is between the Unions (comprised of 2 candidates) and the conservatives...nothing more nothing less.
This is a case that it would be best and crazy great if the third party Conservative wins, but better for the Democrat to win than the RINO. It hopefully sends a message either way to Republican leadership. Americans - Conservatives - are mad as @#&& and we arn't going to take it anymore.

I just found out today, there is another special election race going on in California’s 10th Congressional District. At least out there, they had a primary and a Republican that actually has conservative values and principles won the primary.
The polls have that as a 7 point race, and the RCCC is so focused on this NY23 race that they are ignoring David Harmer, the Republican out there. The fact that he seems to be a Republican who supports conservative principles also means the leadership isn’t that interested in supporting him I guess.
From the desk of cc2k: |
Candidates I support: Doug Hoffman for Congress, NY 23rd (PayPal), David Harmer for Congress, CA 10th. Please, spread the word about these important special elections on November 3, 209: New York’s 23rd congressional district and California’s 10th congressional district. |
Exactly a real conservative Republican is being ignored while they pump cash to Scuzzy.
That should tell us where the party is at the moment.
Sounds like there are two RINO Assembleywomen that we have to defeat in 2010: Scozzafava and Duprey. Maroun sounds like a good candidate to run against Dupree in the 2010 GOP primary. As for Dede, they could openup a phonebook and randomly pick someone that could beat her for the nomination.
Just walked in the door; returning from Ticonderoga, NY (history buffs know the place). 48 hours on the trail ... wish I could write more of what is going on, but posting for the whole world to see might be a little too transparent.
I bet the natives up there aren’t used to all this attention being paid the their corner of NY.
people are so spread out over such a large area, not sure there is much attention being given to anyone ... in fact, there is more talk on national news media than locally ... most people I talk to don’t even know McHugh resigned.
