Nomination of Liberal Republican in New York 23rd Tainted by Breach of Trust (how NY23 happened)
TCOT report ^ | October 19, 2009 | Michael Patrick Leahy

Posted on 10/24/2009 12:10:09 PM PDT by paltz

When John McHugh, Republican Congressman from New York’s 23rd District, accepted President Obama’s nomination to become the Secretary of the Army on June 2, no one could have predicted that less than three weeks before the special election to replace him on November 3 a Democrat would be leading in the polls. But that’s exactly what has happened. A Siena Institute Poll released on October 15 shows Democrat Bill Owens leading in this rural upstate district with 33 % of the vote, followed by Republican Dede Scozzafava with 29%, and Conservative Doug Hoffman with 23%. If Owens wins in November 3 it will mark the first time a Democrat has represented the district since the Civil War.

For what it's worth...

1. The four county chairpersons who gave Scozzafava, the liberal, her majority were all women.

2. Six of the seven county chairpersons who supported Maroun or Doheney, the conservatives, were men.

I'm just sayin'...

Our local GOP has 3 clubs and its the Women’s Club who do the heavy lifting. They are also TEA partiers and 9/12 marchers.

Of course, this is Texas

Hmm. Thanks for the details. It confirms everything that we have been told earlier.

“His withdrawal of the Conservative Party line endorsement from Assemblywoman Scozzafavva in her 2004, 2006, and 2008 races is a clear example of this commitment to principle.”

It was no secret that the Conservative Party would not support this liberal jerk. They had snubbed her for three elections running, and had publicly declared they would never support her. And apparently it was also made clear at the meeting.

No surprise here.
The local and county GOP bosses are even worse than the national party.

Detailed article and good read on what led to the coronation of a moonbat ACORN/Kos-supported RINO in NY-23.

When asked for specific details of the Clinton County committee member vote in an exclusive interview with The TCOT Report, Duprey stated that she ripped up the results after the July 16th Plattsburgh candidate forum where the vote was taken, and couldn’t recall specific breakdowns between Maroun, Scozzafava and Doheny. When further asked for the names of the Clinton County attendees of the Plattsburgh candidate forum who had supported Scozzafava, she refused to do so.

very SHADY!

Both parties have turned into the equivlent of the “Divine Right Of Rule’. No matter what the people want, our “Betters” know what is good for us. And if you disagree, your just a hater and are being divisive. This is getting old and tired. If I wanted to vote for the Dem, then I would. But I want to vote for a Repub who is if not all, at least 80% in line with the tenets of the party. Not a RINO who will get no votes from any Libs. And if by some miracle the RINO gets elected, all they do is pander and act like this is a lifetime appointment. Ala Bloomberg. I am a citizen, not a subject. But apparently the Pols on both sides just don't get it.

Conservative Party Chairman Long recounts a stunning meeting he had with Scozzafava in July of this year, after she had announced her candidacy, but before she had received the nomination.

"I was approached by someone in Dede Scozzafava's sphere who said she wanted to meet with me. I said this is going nowhere, but they persisted, so I agreed to meet with Dede in Lake Placid. At the meeting, which took place just a few weeks before the Republican County Chairmen met in Potsdam to select their nominee, she told me that the Democrats had been talking to her about running in the special election as a Democrat. 'Wouldn't you rather be with the winner?' she asked me. I came away from that meeting convinced that she was completely devoid of any principle."

No, it was no accident. Scozzafava may not care if she wins or not at this point. The race is between the Unions (comprised of 2 candidates) and the conservatives...nothing more nothing less.

I am sure she wants to win, but is now in a twisting in the wind jam. She is exposed. It's too late for her to be the Democrat or Communist candidate where she belongs. It is a mess for her. If she steps down, the conservative might win, so she can't do that and besides being really a Democrat, the narcissist won't let her do what's best for her constituants or the nation (sounds like I am talking about John McCain).

This is a case that it would be best and crazy great if the third party Conservative wins, but better for the Democrat to win than the RINO. It hopefully sends a message either way to Republican leadership. Americans - Conservatives - are mad as @#&& and we arn't going to take it anymore.

Wow, this explains a few things. Nothing good here at all.

I just found out today, there is another special election race going on in California’s 10th Congressional District. At least out there, they had a primary and a Republican that actually has conservative values and principles won the primary.

The polls have that as a 7 point race, and the RCCC is so focused on this NY23 race that they are ignoring David Harmer, the Republican out there. The fact that he seems to be a Republican who supports conservative principles also means the leadership isn’t that interested in supporting him I guess.

From the desk of
cc2k:
Candidates I support: Doug Hoffman for Congress, NY 23rd (PayPal), David Harmer for Congress, CA 10th.

Please, spread the word about these important special elections on November 3, 209: New York’s 23rd congressional district and California’s 10th congressional district.

Exactly a real conservative Republican is being ignored while they pump cash to Scuzzy.

That should tell us where the party is at the moment.

Sounds like there are two RINO Assembleywomen that we have to defeat in 2010: Scozzafava and Duprey. Maroun sounds like a good candidate to run against Dupree in the 2010 GOP primary. As for Dede, they could openup a phonebook and randomly pick someone that could beat her for the nomination.

Just walked in the door; returning from Ticonderoga, NY (history buffs know the place). 48 hours on the trail ... wish I could write more of what is going on, but posting for the whole world to see might be a little too transparent.

people are so spread out over such a large area, not sure there is much attention being given to anyone ... in fact, there is more talk on national news media than locally ... most people I talk to don’t even know McHugh resigned.
