Is Newt a true conservative? He jumped on the global warming train.

True Conservatives take the position(s) that "even if Global Warming occurs" ~ (1) It's probably good for us, (2) It's happened before, (3) It's not a reason to go Commie.

Newt's well within current standards.

Still, the whole GW crowd are begining to look pretty stupid ~ hasn't been any for the last 11 years.

Worth reading up on are the science news stories about how certain viruses INFECT cyanobacter in the ocean and cause them to ramp up their oxygen production.

The implications of that particular piece of knowledge are truly profound ~ first of all, the researchers tell us this combo provide HALF the oxygen in our atmosphere. Further, there are probably other combos pulling apart CO2, and other chemicals.

The things we don't know how the great machinery of "Life on Earth" works probably far exceed what we now know.

The GW folks all suffer from extreme hubris and turn out to be anti-intellectual!

Newt jumped the shark long ago. Now he is just an embarrassment.

Newt is and should be named a Chameleon

Through 20 odd years of watching his shifting he has proven it to me at least.

As for the artical GOOD going for the Conservatives to say NO MORE supporting Rino's and Liberal's getting onto the conservative ticket.

Newt seems to be a good historian, but he consistently jumps on the wrong bandwagon, just like McCain. I could NEVER support Newt for office again. He was going great as leader of the conservative Repubs when Speaker and screwed up.

I remember back in the 1980's everyone was up in arms about soil erosion and deforestation, but farmers and conservationists quickly calmed these "fears" by adopting tough measures that greatly reduced the amount of soil washoff and replanting trees after they had been harvested.

Now that global warming is starting to fade away, I wonder what their next panic area will be.

I believe Newt has aligned himself with Cantor, Jindal, Jeb, McCain, Mitt, et al, ... GOP-lite.

“Is Newt a true conservative? He jumped on the global warming train.”

He also joined the most open border advocates (Squatter Support Squad) in writing a letter to the WSJ endorsing McCain’s amnesty a few years back, while condemning conservatives who want enforcement.

[snip]” Other voices, also claiming to be conservative, propose a very different approach. They suggest we seal the border or radically cut back on the number of foreigners we admit. Some talk of using military means; others would go so far as to try to deport the 8 million to 10 million illegal immigrants already here. These suggestions can sound appealing, particularly in a border state like Arizona. But they aren’t solutions–they’re wishful thinking. How, exactly, would we as a nation seal our borders, and how would we man our economy if we did? Who would labor in the fields to get our crops out of the ground? Who would take the low-paying jobs in our hotels and hospitals?....“Clinging To The Status Quo .. Is Neither Conservative Nor Principled,” And “It Has Become Clear That The Only Viable Approach To Reform” Combines Enforcement With Increased Legal Immigration While Addressing “Those Already Here In The U.S.” “ Newt Gingrich et al, Op-Ed, “Welcome To America,” The Wall Street Journal, 2/6/04)

Newt is like the other Republican elites. He’s an opportunist who only listens to consultants, not the people.
