I have gone stone deaf on Gingrich

This congressional race in NY state will be a good test.

In my heart of hearts, I want to see a true battle between "Every Day Americans", most of whom are conservative, with the trend toward Liberalism running rampant in the RINO Party.

If Sarah is truly the one we need, this race is a good test. If it can work at all, it must work in local races first.

We are continually warned by El Rushbo to eschew (that would be avoid for those of you in Rio Linda) any efforts at a third party movement. History shows these movements are but a flash in the pan, a burn-out, crash and burn scenario.

But each and every time that a RINO gets the party nod, Conservatives need to find a strong candidate to run against both the Dems and Reps.

If and when conservatives start winning some of these races, we might find some conservatives in either party to come out of the woodwork and take a stand. Like you said "then the republican party, as it stands now, does not deserve to exist."

If Obi Wan Nairobi reflects the trend with the democratics, then Newt reflects the trend with the Reps. And both pictures are ugly.

principle over party

That phrase says it all. That should become the battle cry of all Americans

Principle over Party

Hoping that she correctly read the tea leaves.

She did and it doesn't matter if Hoffman loses. She did the right thing.

Cool. Good to hear from someone in the district.

Accept my apologies for my Congresswoman from Florida. She is in Canton today campaigning for Scozzafava. She will not be our representative in 2011, and this is just one of the reasons why.

Besides donating to his campaign, is there anything that we can do to support Hoffman from out of state? I was seriously considering calling his campaign to offer to do "phone bank" work on election day from my home, if that is possible.

Please stop by the FReepathon thread and give it a bump. If you haven’t donated yet, please give it some thought.

Thank you!
Worth repeating often.
VeniVidiVici wrote:
GOP party bosses instead chose to nominate NY Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava

So who exactly did this nomination and why?
It was the county chairs from the 11(?) counties in the district. They met at a pizza parlor and selected the candidate. Hoffman wanted to run as a Republican. Scozzafava has more elected experience, and wanted the position on the ballot as well. She had already tried to get the Democrats to put her on this ballot, but they passed her over due to tax issues in her immediate family.

The locals messed up. That happens.

Once they made their choice, they went to the state party and the RCCC with it. The state chair has since resigned. The RCCC is where the big screw up happened. Pete Sessions (head of the RCCC) says that staffers messed this up and didn’t vet the candidate properly. If staffers were making these decisions, there is a serious management problem at the RCCC. They could have just let the locals run this campaign.

Actually, one of the reasons the locals chose Scozzafava is that she said she could finance her own campaign (with her campaign funds and her own fund raising abilities). But the RCCC had to go all in last week when she was running out of money.

When this is over, Sessions, Hensarling, and anyone else at the RCCC who had anything to do with this decision need to step down. And all Republican elected officeholders who supported Scozzafava need to be targeted in next year’s primaries.

The TEA Partiers and 9-12 groups need to start getting active in their local party operations. And we need to be selecting candidates now, in the next 4 to 6 weeks, to oppose those RINO's and party over principle DIABLO enablers who have been exposed in this NY 23 race.

Has everyone seen this: “The Most Important Number in Politics Today.”

Doug Hoffman is the Conservative alternative in this race (or Hoffman by PayPal).

Markos Moulitsas, founder of The Daily Kos has endorsed Scozzafava. Dede Scozzafava has also been endorsed by NYSUT, the largest labor union in New York, and an affiliate of the National Education Association.

Scozzafava also holds these positions:

Scozzafava has also run in past elections on the Working Families Party (a progressive party associated with ACORN) line on the ballot.

This lady isn’t a RINO, she is a big “R” libeRal democRat. Mark Steyn has coined the term DIABLO for her and others like her. Democrat In All But Label Only.

There are also at least 17 unprincipled DIABLO enablers in the house who have donated funds or otherwise supported to this LibeRal democRat's DIABLO’s campaign. They include Boehner, Cantor, Sessions, Hensarling, Brown-Waite and McCotter. I don’t have a full list, but I will be looking for it. These unprincipled enablers should be targeted for elimination in the primaries next year.

Also, perhaps those of us who donated to the RNC or RCCC should ask for our money back so we can support the conservative candidates of our choice.

I don’t understand why they would nominate a liberal for a relatively conservative district.

My thought exactly.

I think all it takes to win the chair is a local election. Since usually chairs are unopposed, the party voters just vote for them even if they don’t know them. You don’t have to throw barely any money at the position unless it is contested.
District residency requirements have to be met. The filing with the county clerk, at least in Missouri the candidate has to show personal property taxes are paid up. then your name is on the ballot for Republican committee chairperson in your precinct.

I am not a registered Republican and never have been. Yet, regularly I receive those “polls” in the mail requesting donations. Obviously it is the mags that I read.) Sure the questions always are about my concerns, but rarely are they seriously addressed by Congress.

These folks in politics certainly do presume a lot.

She will definitely have challengers. There are many in her district who are unhappy with her.

She does have a lot of support among the seniors, so it wil be an interesting race to watch.

You want to know how bad it is? Mr. Newt Gingrich, Mr. Contract with America, Mr. leader of the right wing take over of Congress has endorsed this bimbo. Something must have rubber off on him while he was sitting on the couch with Nancy! The RNC crowd is the enemy. Far more worried about access to DC cocktail parties than us tax paying serfs. Overthrow these bastards along with the communists and TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY!

This is EXACTLY the problem. The RINOs lie to the people and, sometimes, even get elected. Then, poooof! Hello, Karl Marx!

It is my fervant hope that this is just the beginning of conservatives finally seeing the light. The RINO-led GOP has been coopted by the Demrat Commie Party. Conservatives will never be allowed a meaningful seat at the table.

Palin’s endorsement of NY’s Doug Hoffman is a big step for conservatives, like me, who want to get on with the business of forming a third party.

And please spare me the mantra about how impossible the task is. With work and determination almost any challenge can be overcome.

NYS GOP is an acronymic oxymoron.

Forget a third party.

We need a second one.

Go, Hoffman!

Welcome to FR.

I think some voters just support Scozzafava because she has an R behind her name. They haven’t actually looked at the issues and her record. If Hoffman has the money to inform the voting public, he will win. This is a Republican district. Your conclusion is wrong. If Hoffman was the Republican candidate, he’d be winning with 52% of the vote to Owens 33%. Owens if topped out at 33%. Hoffman just needs to get the R voters informed that Scozzafava is a tax and spend, liberal Democrat.
