The Heavenly Father already knows the sin(s), there is NO need to make a confession to another flesh being to have those sins forgiven IF an actual, literal change of heart takes place. And IT is only the Heavenly Father that can know the mind of the person confessing sin(s) are sincere in repentance.

But hey if reporting your sin(s) to some man behind a curtain is your tradition I am not about to try and change your mind.

Oh just in the event I need to add all is done in the name of the Savior.

Wow! Just classic. A slam is attempted based on Stretch Pelousy's getting face time with the Pope. The slam is shown to be without reason or effect. Rather than admit that he was WRONG and his gun was shooting blanks JMT just opens up a new front on the auricular confession salient.
