From the time he entered the White House, President Obama frequently has spoken about having “inherited” an economic mess, and he has been criticized for it. But the expression arguably has been used even more often by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Nine months later, it is a theme she returns to regularly at home and abroad.
During her most recent trip, a six-day visit to Western Europe and Russia earlier this month, Clinton used the phrase publicly at least four times on three occasions.
At a joint press conference with her British counterpart David Miliband in London on October 11, she said with regard to Afghanistan, “We have been in office about nine months. We obviously believe that the prior eight years were not as effective or focused as they might have been … our challenge has been to take what we inherited…”
The following day, during a BBC Radio interview, she said, “I think there has been to some extent, inherited from our prior involvement in Afghanistan, a lack of clarity.” A few moments later she added, “We also don’t want to continue doing what we inherited.”
In Russia on October 14, Clinton said during a town hall event at Moscow State University, “We are making an in-depth review of our policy in Afghanistan. There were some things that we inherited from the prior administration …”

I had a liberal on Facebook the other post a comment directed at me saying essentially:
"It's funny how the Neo-Cons want to blame everything on Obama now, short memories I guess."
Now first off, I had to laugh. Based on the frequency that liberals, especially younger liberals, bandy about the term "Neo-Con", I am convinced at this point they have no clue what Neoconservatism is. Besides that fact, I am about a far from a Neo-Con as Obama is conservative.
Secondly, we do have short memories, going back around 9 months now and guess what? This have gotten far, far worse and the facts correlate directly with Bammy's policies since he took office.

Bill Clinton’s approach to foreign policy was feckless in general...only of interest to avoid negative press (he finally stopped the siege of Sarajevo so it wouldn’t be a campaign issue in 1996) or if there was campaign money to be raised (China policies). He could have prevented 9/11 if he had taken Bin Laden when the Sudan offered to hand him over. It didn’t start when he met Monica. (Of course there were other Monicas before Monica but most of them excaped becoming household names.)
In fact, 9/11 was Bush’s responsibility. He had been in office over 8 months, and he should have had people in place. Now, to some degree, we can blame Democrats in the senate, who slowed down his appointments so much he didn’t have his people in place.
But for Hillary Clinton of all people to argue that in October the problems anywhere in government are still the fault of the previous president is hypocritical, unless she in the same speech apologized to Bush for all the problems he “inherited” from her husband, including 9/11.

In some ways, but I mostly blame the CIA and the FBI.
It was strange, by evening we KNEW about and had RECORDS on every single terrorist that was involved in the high-jacking.
But he was President, so the responsibility was his for those two organizations. It’s not “blame”, but it is responsibility. If our country was still run on constitutional principles, the government would still be small enough that one man could reasonably take over and run it every 4 years without much trouble.

Get used to it, folks. They are not going to stop doing this. The effectiveness of the message will, however, diminish over time.
Funny, but when Hillary’s husband took over from Bush the father - he claimed the great economic turnaround as his own - even though it happened in the first few months...
