The Obama Administration has voiced concern that Conservative plans to unpick the Lisbon treaty would cause a rupture between Europe and a British government led by David Cameron.
Diplomatic sources on both sides of the Atlantic have told The Times that the issue was discussed when Hillary Clinton, the Secretary of State, held talks with Gordon Brown and David Miliband on her visit to Europe last week.
Disclosure of Washingtons concerns comes on the day William Hague, the Shadow Foreign Secretary, arrives in the US capital for talks with Mrs Clinton. A source close to the State Department said: Hillary always likes to ask questions and, as she is such a candid person in these meetings, I would be surprised if she did not ask Hague to explain the position.
Louis Susman, the US Ambassador to London, is also understood to have expressed alarm about the direction of travel of a party widely expected to take power after the next election.
Privately, he has suggested that the new alliance in the European Parliament forged by Mr Cameron with right-wing parties linked to anti-Semitism will diminish any Conservative Governments ability to wield influence in Brussels.
A number of Jewish groups in the the US where they exercise great influence within Democratic politics are thought to be monitoring closely the debate about Tory membership of a group led by Michal Kaminski. The head of the Polish Law and Justice Party is said to have opposed commemorating a wartime massacre of Jews in Jedwabne, the Polish town he represents as an MEP.
Mr Susman has already used an interview with the Financial Times to express the hope that the UKs role in Europe isnt diminished after the election. He said it was in the interests of British political parties to work

Typically Pommy inbred moron wrote this article. As the UK goes so goes the, uh, UK. It’s elections have ZERO effect on continental elections.
Bogus story. If this were a real worry...they would have treated Gordon Brown correctly from day one. Instead...he’s the video gift dude...a joke to the public.
The authors wasted little time before making the anti-semitism allegations. When they’re holding the short end of the stick, liberals always resort to name calling. This is just more evidence.
In truth, the anti-semitic pol’s are on the liberal side! As an example, look at The Messiah.
In general, Hussein has shown no respect for Europe. This attitude toward the Tories is no different.

This should be good news for Obama.
Clinton's war room did a good job teaming with Blair to sabotage Tories.

I'll bet they did! If you are putting 'One World' together, you cannot abide bits breaking off.
WATCH THIS ENTIRE VIDEO AND WEEP AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THIS SENTENCE. 9 parts but worth the watch.
What a joke. UK Jews had no concerns about the Labour Party’s Islamification under B-liar and Browne. Nor were American Jews worried baout voting for someone named Hussein.
Cameron is not that conservative too.
The left plays the racism, anti-semitism, Islamophobia and homophobia cards often.
Both Labour and Conservatives promised a referendum in their 2005 manifestos. Labour won and in due course weasled out of any referendum and, in fact, any serious debate on the treaty itself, just ramming it thru' parliament asap, like the scum they are. The thing to remember about Lisbon is that it's the EU Constitution that was rejected earlier, in all but name. It's also a self-amending treaty so there need never be another one, the EU will have carte blanche from now on. Cameron should hold a referendum regardless but he won't, he's gutless to stand up to the forces driving the undemocratic EU "project".
The Lisbon Constitution/Treaty was passed by UK Parliament and signed by Brown.
When Tories and Cameron win next Spring, the Tory majority can opt out of the Treaty by giving notice. They don't need a referendum.
Kinda like GW gave notice to the Rooskies that U.S.A. was out of the ABM treaty in 2001.
A UK Lisbon Treaty referendum would be nice, also.

Won’t happen if Cameron’s in charge.
Agreed
A "Shadow Secretary"? That sounds cool. I think we should do that. We could have John Bolton as Shadow Secretary of State, and he could run around telling the world that Obozo is an idiot and as soon as we get rid of him, we are going to kick some ass, so don't get too comfortable with a wimpy America.
The consequence of unilaterally withdrawing from the Lisbon treaty would be that it would quite possibly lead to the UK either leaving the European Union, or being asked to leave by the other member states. Unfortunately, this means it will not happen because it is the policy of the Conservatives to stay in the EU, or as they sometimes put it “in Europe, but not run by Europe”.
Which means that a referendum is the only viable option for killing off Lisbon. A referendum will only happen, of course, if President Klaus of the Czech Republic has not signed the treaty if Cameron and the Tories win the general election which will probably be in around six months time. He has been sending out mixed messages in the past couple of weeks, on one hand saying that it is too late to stop it now, but on the other hand he seriously annoyed the Euro-elites by saying he will not sign the treaty unless there are guarantees regarding rights of property arising from the Second World War, which in addition to a constitutional court review, may be enough to stall the treaty long enough for a UK referendum to finally sink it.
Follow the socialism.
As the scumbag Ubama and his party seek to turn America into a Euro-style socialist welfare state, the Europeans have had enough of the policies that led them to their insidious cesspool of mediocrity and are desperately trying to escape it. This bothers the scumbag Ubama... has him scratching his head.
“Don’t European ‘leaders’ enjoy the power that socialism gives them over their simple masses?”, Ubama wonders.
