New York needs to clean up its Republican Party.
The Congressional Race is VERY important, but it is also important to make sure that the Party Bosses NEVER pull something like this, ever again!

the real issue is why Ms. Scozzafava is a Republican at all. She has voted for so many tax increases that the Democrat is attacking her as a tax raiser. She supported the Obama stimulus, and she favors "card check" to make union organizing easier, or at least she did until a recent flip-flop. She has run more than once on the line of the Working Families Party, which is aligned with Acorn. Her voting record in Albany puts her to the left of nearly half of the Democrats in the assembly. She also favors gay marriage, which is to the left of Mr. Obama.

With Republicans like this, who needs Democrats?

a defeat would teach Republicans that running candidates who believe in nothing will keep them in the minority for years to come.

WSJ and others still talking about this election teaching Republicans a lesson, but they've done it before and lost and learned nothing. It's their neurotic, self-defeating pattern.

The Republicans haven’t learned a damn thing!! The grassroots will have to work and win the upcoming elections on our own and clean up our state precincts on our own and get our party back to the party of Reagan...on our own!

More evidence that the Republican party should be put out of our misery at the earliest practical election. Is anyone else planning on hosting a stay-at-home party election day?

The one thing the GOP is good at. Losing.

Words just utterly fail me in this race on the GOP's stupidity.

How can anybody, any organization be this fricking brain-dead.

Dems infiltrating the R side of the tickets? I’ve often thought of registering as a conservative Dem to try and move their party back to the middle.

The current situation may turn out to be a blessing in disguise, after all. Remember that there is a redistricting after the 2010 census. This is the ONLY GOP seat in the NY congressional delegation, and NY will lose one or two seats. The Dems control the state legislature, and they will make this district DISAPPEAR. So, if the GOP wins, it’s a one-term hold, IMHO. However, it has caused the conservative base of the party, even in NY, to rebel against the bosses, and exert grass roots strength. It will send a message..

The Republicans have been trying to be better Democrats than the Democrats for a while now, from the local level up.

There is nothing unusual about Republican insiders picking liberal RINOs over Conservatives. It is pervasive.

Which make it all the more interesting that every fund raising call get from Republicans these days starts off with some spin on “ ... helping get Conservatives like us” elected. I lol every time.

There is little doubt Scuzzifavabeans will go down to defeat. What we need to make sure of is that the fat gasbag Gingrich pays a BIG price for his treachery. Everyone should email Sean and tell him if he has Newt on, you will turn Fox off. Period. Don’t buy his books. Avoid his and his 4th wife’s new production company and projects. Tell CPAC and other groups not to invite him any longer. If Gingrich apologizes, perhaps he can be forgiven. Until then, Newt = Pariah.

Is there a run-off election if no one gets a majority of the votes in this election?

It’s pretty simple really. The Republican party has been infiltrated by Democrats. I was never comfortable with the “Big Tent” concept pressed forward by George Bush Sr and his ilk. All we have done is introduced liberalism into the party. Frankly I no longer consider the Republican party to be very relevent to me. I am feeling like Ronald Reagan did when he was talking about the Democrats and said “I didn’t leave my party, my party left me”.

What a freeking disaster.

Incidentally, former Republican “Leader” Mondello is perpetually under investigation. His behavior makes you wonder if the democrats worked a deal for him to lose key districts to avoid indictment.
