Gingrich: ‘If you seek to be a perfect minority, you’ll remain a minority’
NRO ^ | October 20, 2009 | Robert Costa

Former House speaker Newt Gingrich tells NRO that he is sure that endorsing Republican Dede Scozzafava in the upcoming special election in New York’s 23rd congressional district was the right thing to do. “I endorsed the Republican who has been endorsed by the National Rifle Association, opposes the Obama health plan, signed the ‘no-tax-increase’ pledge, and supports a comprehensive energy plan like I do,” says Gingrich.

Third-party candidates like conservative Doug Hoffman, Scozzafava’s challenger, often serve only to divide the GOP, says Gingrich. “Just look at what’s happening in New Jersey’s gubernatorial race,” he says, pointing to the campaign of independent candidate Chris Daggett, who has siphoned support from Republican candidate Chris Christie. “What’s happening in New York and in New Jersey should be a sober warning to every purist in this country.”

“If you seek to be a perfect minority, you’ll remain a minority,” says Gingrich. “That’s not how Reagan built his revolution or how we won back the House in 1994.”

“Gingrich can piss off.”

Seconded.

Count me in. "The perfect is the enemy of the good" redux.

Again, I express my hope that the Former Speaker is making some dough off the "Climate Crisis" Hoax.

Gillibrand has totally flip flipped on gun control. She now tows the NY party line so as to avoid a primary challenge. She has no principles. Only a fool would vote for her.

The NRA jumps to endorse and fund democrats (over pro-gun Republicans) whenever it can in an effort to seem bipartisan. For that reason I recommend not ever giving them money. Unless you want to pay for billboards for Rep. Baron Hill of Indiana (pro 2a socialist scumbag).

As to Dede, being pro gun is the ONLY area she is conservative on. Hoffman is also pro-gun. Probably the rat too in that district. The NRA I believe only will endorse 1 candidate even if every candidate is just as pro-2A as the last (BTW the only one you can count on to vote for a pro-gun Speaker is Hoffman, that makes him the most pro-2a candidate)

Gingrich’s comments are retarded. Perfect smerfect NEWT, how about at least drawing the line at supporting unnominated (there was no primary) left of center Republicans? He can take his faux-eloquence and shove it.

atomic_dog: “I may register Democrat so I can vote for Jerry Brown here in California as he is the only remotely pro-2A candidate running for Governor. Meg Whitman should stay home and eat bonbons.”

You are right not to support Meg Whitman, I wouldn’t vote for that liberal slag to be Governor. However you are insane to consider voting for Moonbeam Brown, he’s not pro-gun at all.

If you want to vote pro-2a for Governor of Cali the AIP candidate looks like your best bet.

Since you aren’t a conservative though I do encourage you to go ahead and register as a demorat.

Being a single issue voter I find it odd you care so much about the NRA nod. They’re gun grabbers themselves when compared with the GOA.
