It's not every day the Federal Aviation Administration has to consider the flight of a silver UFO-looking helium balloon.
"This is unusual," acknowledges Mike Fergus, spokesman for the FAA in Washington state, which opened an investigation into the two-hour balloon flight in FAA-monitored airspace. "But we investigate any air incident. The investigation is solely focusing on if we had any violations of our regulatory authority or regulations."
Fergus says he is not at liberty to discuss specifics, nor can he guess as to when the probe will be complete. He says the FAA can only file civil charges if a violation did take place.

Why go after these relatively harmless goofs when that piece of scum from the Duke false rape charges gets off scot free? That ain’t right!
That sleazy slut ruined a lacrosse season, cost the lacrosse coach at Duke his job and cost the family of those boys WRONGLY ACCUSED millions in legal fees. Why should this piece of scum be allowed to just walk free?
What? You telling me we don’t hold girls responsible for their actions?
Well, as far as the Duke lacrosse case is concerned, you have to see which groups people belonged to in order to understand it all.
Since the woman was a black female, and the accused were “rich white boys” in college, the narrative was set up that they took advantage of her. The out of control DA there bent over backwards to prove how politically correct he was, by filing the trumped up charges against the guys with little if any real evidence.
Many liberal politically correct Duke faculty members signed a petition in support of the girl, against the students. They wanted to show how liberal they are, and how intolerant they are of white boys taking advantage of a black girl.
And then when you add the fact that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton weighed in, it becomes a circus/lynch mob mentality.
I’m confused. What in the heck does the Duke case have to do with this one? Are you saying we shouldn’t be prosecuting any other cases unless and until the Duke liar is punished? How stupid.
the Feds did prosecute that guy who went up in a lawn chair back in the 70’s
Oooops.
Wonder if they’ll still get their reality TV show...
There are likely millions of jerkoffs across the country who think this scam was harmless, even as it put at risk the lives of rescue personnel across the state and cost the taxpayer probably hundreds of thousands of scarce dollars, all for a mentally diseased chicken-sh*t bad joke.
The fact is, America harbors millions of latter day Peter Pans like this Heene a-hole who don't understand the basics: that if you sh*t in your hat, you're the one who's gonna wear it.
No plausible punishment is too great for this moron couple, to make a compelling example to the entire generation of schitzkopfs out there who have had everything handed to them and who actually believe in a free lunch.
"Locked Up Stateside"
Something along the lines of..."My Dad's in Jail"
This idiot will get a slap on the wrist, write a book, go on all of the morning shows, and make his million.
I say put his ass in jail for 10 years.
“Locked Up Stateside”
Now wouldn’t that be nice, seeing the dad spend his first night on cell block B with his cellmates?
