The special election to fill New York's vacant 23rd congressional seat is perhaps the earliest test of the GOP's chances to reclaim the House in 2010. Yet the GOP candidate, Dede Scozzafava, has struggled to line up Republican support, and has taken a pummeling from conservative groups that assert she's liberal. The Club for Growth and Eagle Forum, among others, support her opponent, Doug Hoffman, who's running on the Conservative Party ticket.
Add North Texas' Dick Armey to the list of conservative stars backing Hoffman. The former House Majority Leader has confirmed to the Hoffman campaign that he'll spend Thursday with them, said Rob Ryan, a Hoffman spokesman. "He is with us almost all day Thursday," Ryan told me. "There will be a bunch of different events." Armey's endorsement of Hoffman is personal and wasn't offered on behalf of FreedomWorks, the conservative foundation he chairs.

Democrat vs leftist
I couldn’t believe that I heard one of the talking heads on the Sunday morning talk shows mutter that Hoffman is closer on the issues to the person in office than Scozzafava?
That said, conservatives need to turn out in large numbers in the primaries for conservative candidates. There is a better chance of winning elections that way than going the third party route. Illinois Rinos are pushing Dillard for governor, yet there are some good solid conservatives also running.....
Seat held by GOP since 1871
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA! Wegonkikyow*ss, Newt!
Didn’t the NYGOP learn anything from Bloomberg?
Ever here of “Read my lips, no new taxes” and another “old guy” as the head of the republican ticket?
Straw-man arguments.

You said it brother - see my post # 39.
I make my fight in the primaries.
The RNC, NRSC, and NRCC deserve good kicks in the backs.
You know Gondring. Tha multi-party election system might be the ONLY thing I like about New York.
Specter
Scuzzy is far to leftist to be a RINO. There was no primary. Hoffman is the ONLY choice for a conservative.
Is that Newt Greater than Bush or is that Newt >>>>> goes the same as Bush?
Newt is too often willing to be a “nice guy” at times and “compromise” with the other side (read global warming, and this house race).
I’d say Newt = Bush, but not greater than.
Seat held by GOP since 1871
ROFL...
Dede Scozzafava is a liberal. You want to be in a liberal party?
There is a GOPer on my FB who will back ANY Republican, even Bloomy
Is this the GOP you want?
Scozzafava also holds these positions:
Pro choice
In favor of gay marriage
In favor of Cap and Trade (I need to check my sources on this. Newt said she opposed this)
In favor of Employee Free Choice Act (Card Check)
In favor of the Stimulus
In favor of Bank Bailouts
I think in this case it’s warranted. She’s a rat. If it walks like a rat, talks like a rat and smells like a rat, it’s a rat. That’s what the ‘R’ after her name stands for - Rat.
I agree that pubs have to be elected in order to take back control, but this woman is just too far beyond the pale. It would be humiliating for real pubs to be forced to support someone so far left. I also realize we’re talking about NY where the conservative pickings are slim, but the line has to be drawn somewhere and she stands beyond that line in the enemy camp.
Get a clue. There is a big difference between forming a third party on the national level and backing conservative candidates in races such as this. Just blindly voting for someone because they have the Republicaan label is insanity. Remember, Arlen Specter was a Republican, and Colin Powell, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins and Lindsey Graham still are. Also, how did running the rino John McCain work out for us last year? I can tell you from my experience locally that there was ZERO support for McCain last year until Palin was added to the ticket. The day after Sarah was announced as the VP candidate, we were swamped with people wanting yard signs and bumper stickers, and folks wanting to donate or help out.
Just help to make sure we don’t get another McCain, such as Pawlenty, in 2012.
Most all Democrat congress people are Marixist. I have now doubt the SEIU endorsed, Bill Clinton endorsed, Obama endorsed(I could go on) Owen will be more statist than the 4 out of 10 conservative, Dede.
For several reasons, Hoffman is the one to back here, but let's all cut the Democrat-is-more-conservative nonsense.
It's naive and it's nauseating.
