Karl Rove Accuses Obama of Deliberately Destabilizing Afghanistan
Monday, October 19, 2009 | Kristinn

Karl Rove, former top adviser to President George W. Bush, bluntly accused President Barack Obama of deliberately "destabilizing" the government of Afghanistan, in an interview this morning on the Fox News Channel.

Rove said Obama sent Democratic party henchman James Carville to help the campaign of one of President Hamid Karzai's opponents for the August presidential election.

An article by NPR last summer says Carville's strategy was to drag the election in to a runoff to aid his candidate, former World Bank official Ashraf Ghani.

Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel made remarks this weekend that questioned whether the Obama administration would send more troops to Afghanistan if the Karzai government remained in power, reported here by Politico:

"Do you have a credible Afghan partner for this process that can provide the security and the type of services that the Afghan people need?" Emanuel said the Obama White House is asking as it conducts a strategy review before answering Gen. Stanley McChrystal's request for more troops.

You Tube video of Rove here.

Transcript (by yours truly) of Rove's comments:

Take a look at what this administration has done. They have destabilized the Afghan government by saying you know what we're not certain that Karzai is a good partner for us.

And the Obama administration sent in James Carville, Democrat party operative, in order to handle the campaign of Karzai's opponent. And then they express surprise when Karzai is trying to cut side deals with the remaining warlords and regional powers in Afghanistan in order to make certain he has a power base if the Americans pull the rug out from underneath him.

I mean its really unusual that this administration is so quick to criticize the Bush administration when they are really destabilizing the regime in Afghanistan in a fundamental way.

Bush, Cheney and Rove blew it. Then had to have known he would be a nightmare and should have gotten the goods on him.

This is all a payback to Obama’s handlers in Saudi Arabia.

Kill American soldiers and humiliate the U.S. military to make Islam look good and powerful. The fools in NY and NJ voted for him even after 9/11. They voted in one of the 9/11 hijackers own people.

Judge David O. Carter - a “marine” just hired one of O’s cronies - so I assume he is not listening.

Karzai was too friendly to Bush. That seems to be the only factor these thugs care about. Totally not surprising that President Emanuel wants his own man in charge in Afghanistan.

Carville was also sent to Israel by the Clintons to get Ehud Barak elected Prime Minister. He has a history of doing this sort of thing. Of course, we didn't have troops dying in Israel back then, so there is a small difference....

Aren’t these the same folks who spent 20 years shrieking about the US government meddling in the internal politics of every country in Central America? Hello, Pot?

When trying to analyze the Obamanation administration’s motives on foreign policy, just think: “what does Putin and company want?”

As other FReepers have been trying to explain on other threads, this Karzai-bashing is 0bama and his state run media intentionally floating falsehoods designed to undermine Karzai. Good for Rove to expose it with this frontal attack.

So, me and Rove, we think alike.

Today I heard on the news that the Afghan election had been “overturned.” First thought in my head was “how convenient, cover for BO not wanting to send troops in a surge.” Next statement on the radio was Gibbels saying “we can’t send more troops until we have a stable Afghan government.”

Among the pundits you see on the news programs, few are as reserved and cautious as Mr. Rove.

For Mr. Rove to state that Obama sent Democratic party henchman James Carville to help the campaign of one of President Hamid Karzai's opponents for the August presidential election...

is very big news, indeed, my FRiends.

Can anyone imagine the callous and cynical minds that would undermine an election with these kinds of consequences?

Bingo Rove! The kooks in the White House are playing the same hatred of our ally that they played when out of office. They hate Karzai simply because he works with us. if they get an enemy government that demands our withdrawal, that will be treated with the greatest respect.

Yes, liberals really are this crazy.

Its disgusting and you even hear it from conservatives because they are never exposed to the truth. I just pray Karsai and the Pashtu are strong enough to beat back the Taliban alone because Obama is determined to lose this.

He’s destabilizing the US; why wouldn’t he destabilize Afghanistan, too?

I wish FOX, especially that meathead Hannity, would stop giving Rove, (always introduced loftily as “The Architect”)
face time and credibility by having him on regularly as some kind of pundit. He’s a smart guy, but HE IS PART OF THE PROBLEM, AND, AS SMART AS HE IS, HE IS STILL PART OF BOTH WHAT’S WRONG WITH THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, AND WHAT’S INHERENTLY WRONG WITH FOX. There is no discernible difference between Rove and , say, Michael Steele, and we ALL know what’s wrong with Michael Steele. These people have YET to catch on to what’s actually going on in the country for the past YEAR, and Hannity, unfortunately , plays right into this retrograde dimension of the Republican Establishment, which is SURE TO LOSE.

Wow. The Bushies are finally pissed.

Would that they had shown this ability to counterstrike long ago when they still mattered.

I guess kissing Obama’s backside ain’t been workin’ out too well for y’all, eh Karl?

Looks like they’re trying to do this a little cleaner than Kennedy did in Viet Nam. Next we’ll hear of Karzai’s serious illness.
