Today, at an international ESO/CAUP exoplanet conference in Porto, the team who built the High Accuracy Radial Velocity Planet Searcher, better known as HARPS, the spectrograph for ESO's 3.6-metre telescope, reports on the incredible discovery of some 32 new exoplanets, cementing HARPS's position as the world’s foremost exoplanet hunter. This result also increases the number of known low-mass planets by an impressive 30%. Over the past five years HARPS has spotted more than 75 of the roughly 400 or so exoplanets now known.

Read the second line of my original post. Algorites = Al+Gore+ites.
I know what you mean.
In the beginning God created evolution.
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!
1. What are they looking for?
2. Why?
1) Planets.
2) Because they can.
1. Intelligent life
2. Because we don’t have any.
A couple space rated 500MW Nuclear power plants with 50 years iof nuclear fuel, Several VASIMIR engines with enough fuel for 100 years, a couple hundred Bigelow Modules, a Landing craft, life support and recycling system. A Hydrogen Sulfide stasis system. Of course a giant shield at the front of the craft and some DVDs.
This craft could achieve near c speeds. Making a trip to a star 1,000 LY away only take 20-60 years ship time.
Fill it with a couple hundred freepers and colonize a planet before the Socialists ruin all human life in the universe.
Lots More Planets Found Outside Solar System (32 More Planets, Total 400)

Even the most “earthlike” of exo-planets will probably be impossible to colopnize.
Each will be home to thousands of species of deadly viruses, bacteria, insects, predators or (worst of all) sentient beings.
Never underestimate the human will to adapt to the new planet. As for the predators we will have guns... For sentient beings kill them all if they aren’t human... Just kidding on the last part.
I’m for sending Algorians to Venus, it’s very similar to hell.
;o)
Now that is a seriously cute little guy.
