The White House escalated its offensive against Fox News on Sunday by urging other news organizations to stop "following Fox" and instead join the administration's attempt to marginalize the channel.
White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel told CNN that President Obama does not want "the CNNs and the others in the world [to] basically be led in following Fox."
Obama senior adviser David Axelrod went further by calling on media outlets to join the administration in declaring that Fox is "not a news organization."
"Other news organizations like yours ought not to treat them that way," Axelrod counseled ABC's George Stephanopoulos. "We're not going to treat them that way."
By urging other news outlets to side with the administration, Obama aides officials dramatically upped the ante in the war of words that began earlier this month, when White House communications director Anita Dunn branded Fox "opinion journalism masquerading as news."

Media columnist David Carr of the New York Times warned that the White House war on Fox "may present a genuine problem for Mr. Obama, who took great pains during the campaign to depict himself as being above the fray of over-heated partisan squabbling."
"While there is undoubtedly a visceral thrill in finally setting out after your antagonists, the history of administrations that have successfully taken on the media and won is shorter than this sentence," Carr wrote over the weekend. "So far, the only winner in this latest dispute seems to be Fox News. Ratings are up 20 percent this year."
He added: "The administration, by deploying official resources against a troublesome media organization, seems to have brought a knife to a gunfight."

all your base huffinpuff
It is becoming clearer and clearer that Obama has an achillies (sp) heel.
the history of administrations that have successfully taken on the media and won is shorter than this sentence
I think a major problem with nobama and his shitcago thugs is their ignorance of this history and their ignorance of America in general. This bunch seems to beleive in their intellectual superiority well beyond their capacity.
Nobama has given us his best shot and proved to shoot no better than that bunch of gangbangas at the Toledo Bar gunfight, lots of banging, zero hitting.
This is unbelievable.
“Please telll me what country we are living in again?”
It sure is starting to resemble Venezuela, isn’t it?
“It is significant that the nationalization of thought has proceeded everywhere pari passu with the nationalization of industry.”
“If all the sources of current information are effectively under one single control, it is no longer a question of merely persuading the people of this or that. The skillful propagandist then has power to mold their minds in any direction he chooses, and even the most intelligent and independent people cannot entirely escape that influence if they are long isolated from all other sources of information.”
Don't ask me what "pari passu" means but the rest is quite clear. In order to pass his radical measures it is essential that Hussein silence his media opponents.
When are we going to hear the phrase...”nattering nabobs of negativism”.?
Obummer: the White House whiner-in-chief
It is hard to believe, but this is America. Kind of reminds me of some two-bit third world country. Too bad the best and brightest can’t stand any questioning. All those years at ivy league schools and all they seem to have learned is how to be a union organizer. Geez, guys that failed high school know how to do that.
If President George W. Bush had directed his Administration to attack say, PMS-NBC, or CBS, etc. in this manner, Comrade 0bama and the rest of his ‘Rat thugs would be screaming the loudest about such an “unconstitutional assault upon the First Amendment”
[[White House Escalates War on Fox News]]
The funniest part is that the dolts in Washington don’t realize they are drving more and more people to Fox by their paranoid whining about Fox
Exactly what do you mean? Can you cite an example or two? That’d help for slow guys like me...
CA....
It must be a coincidence that the commies in Venezuela and Argentina are attacking the media as well.
Fox News ratings escalate with each White House attack.
Alan Grayson ("Republicans want you to die quickly" boy) spoke those very words last week.
I could argue a bit with your sentence construction but I fully agree with your point: totalitarians can't allow the truth to be spoken.
This isn't just a row with Fox News. The Administration Brownshirts are trying to silence anyone who dares speak out against Obama's policies: Glenn Beck, Tea Parties, Rush Limbaugh, Breitbart, etc.
They're mounting massive campaigns with taxpayer dollars, subverting the National Endowment for the Arts into an Obama personality cult propaganda machine and encouraging Obama-worship in schools. Anyone who believes massive government funding for ACORN and Obama's push for a domestic "army" aren't moves toward a repressive totalitarian police state just isn't connecting the dots.
Is it just my imagination, or has the First Amemdment ot the Constitution of the United States been just tossed into the circular file as just another piece of junk mail or an over 7 year old tax return? I told my Sea Cadets this weekend and they all agreed, history is going to repeat itself (as it always has to those who don’t learn by the present). Time to start buying MRE’s, rifles, other necessities and find a nice quiet spot in the mountains to live.......
All OBama has to do is WRITE an Executive Order saying,
“The First Amendment DOES’T APPLY to FOX!!”
OK, Big Guy, go ahead and DO IT!!
