Just saw another ad by the Humane Society. They do wonderful work and help animals who have been abandoned or treated cruelly.
I hate these ads, not for their poor taste, they are actually done well and are a needed message about treating animals with love and humanely.
What bothers me about the ads is the starkness of the cruelty man exacts on an animal who loves unconditionally and is always happy to see you.
They don't care what kind of day you had or how much money you make. The're always happy when you walk in the front door.
And yet there are humans just so sick, they would beat, starve or maime an animal, so they can exert their power over an animal who has no defense and will still love.
Is this love a sign of God, who loves unconditionally no matter your faults or defects?
I am forced to turn away when these ads run as my eyes well up with tears.
I cannot believe someone would do the things to these animals who would love you and do what you want. They are your friend and want nothing more than to be your companion, fulfill a void you didn't know you had and entertain you.
The pictures they show disgust me and I am not able to conjure up any qualification for the horror of the cruelty I see.
I smile at my pets to let them know yes, I was only gone 2 minutes and I am back. Sorry you missed me.
I smile at my pets to let them know I don't care what they do, they are just so damn cute and beautiful.
I smile at my pets when the want to play retrieve.
I smile at my pets when they do their natural job and run toward the street after a squirrel and then upon my command sit or heel. I then hug them for being so good and alive.
I smile at my pets for some of the dumb things they do because well... it's funny and amazing.
I smile when they bug me to scratch them and then watch as they go into some weird frenzy and I imagine them saying "Oh! Thank you. You have no idea how good that feels. Do it some more".
I smile because they are my responsibility and I love taking care of them, even if they want me play with them all the time.
I smile because they are God's gift to me and I know I must provide them love and care that will give them a healthy life and enliven their spirit.
Thanks for letting me rant.
Sorry about your choices. I will pray for you.
>> What is your point?
The mass of city dwellers are detached from reality. The death of an animal (even a utilitarian farm animal) is a painful thing to watch. For anyone. Example: Our neighbor in Colorado just lost a new $900 gelding - after working cattle all day with no problems, he freaked out, bucked her off, bucked for another 300’ down the pasture and impaled himself on a fencepost through both the chest and the gut.
A modest proposal for citified lawbreakers: Let them see the results of their actions, close up and personal. Arrest midnight feral cat feeders and unwanted “pet dumpers” (our house is across the street from a park). Have them assist (with both $ and labor) in the capture, spaying, neutering, “adoption” efforts, and the ultimate euthanization of unwanted animals if their efforts fail. Assistance would be also helpful in conducting autopsies and studies of discarded pets on the pain, suffering and disease they endure on the streets. Ask a Southern farm kit to tell you what about “wolves” (botfly larvae).
>>However it is illegal to shoot your animal in my state & I would think other states too now.
You’re right, but I think mostly cities and non-rural counties have enacted these laws. Miami-Dade County has one.
Our vacation home county in Colorado has such a law; I asked a high-ranking deputy about this. He said “If a drunk goes in his front yard and bashes his kid’s puppy over the head with a shovel in front of the neighbors he’s toast; if it’s a rural area and an elk gets hit by a car or a horse breaks a leg and a citizen ends the animal’s suffering, we ignore it.”
No, I don’t need YOU to.
It’s already done.
Sleep well knowing the damage you cause intentionally.
You sound spiteful.
If you quote something, one would assume you agree with it (or state such when you quoted it). If you agree with it, it would seem that you could defend it.
What an odd thing to say. Why would you punish the unborn to get back at someone you don’t like?
You adopted your dog from a shelter run by The Humane Society of the United States or a shelter run by a city, county or other humane society ?
Agree.
HSUS as well as most national “societies” stink.
Every thread on FR isn’t about abortion.
They should find a 24 hour abortion forum.
This thread has nothing to do with abortion and should stay that way. They would not like the abortion threads spammed either and I have the manners not to do so.
You just found an entirely odd way to express that opinion.
This wasn’t the first time is why. I have tried to reason with these spammers to no avail.
The quote “It’s already done”, made after a specific request to NOT do so was only made to spite Eaker.
Although it may have already been done, you could have kept quiet.
If you donate, donate directly to your LOCAL humane society THEY are the ones doing good work, the HSUS is a scam.
I see. I know some people get one song and sing it over and over.
Yes and unfortunately for their cause many tune it out.
I know I do.
That is not the poster with the pseudonym “Salvation” style.
I understand. She sounds full of spite.
Back during the election, the Humane Society came out with some political information..for the life of me I can’t remember if it was email or link...anyway, they were backing Barack Obama for President. I was furious because I felt they should be focused on the animals that need care and help and stay out of politics. I thought they were the same organization as ASPCA...so I fired off a letter to ASPCA jumping on them for being political. They wrote me back a gracious letter saying they were totally non-political and that the Humane Society of America was not them and they had no affiliation with the HSA. I researched and found that the HSA is indeed a lobbying, liberal political group that uses animals to promote their agendas. Their primary interest is NOT in the care and help for animals. As usual, Progressives use something near and dear to American hearts as a means to get money for their political agendas. You have to be another Sherlock Holmes these days and track these organizations to find out who they REALLY are. I don’t donate to anything or anybody until I have done all I can to find out who is behind them.
I shouldn’t have to do that. Obama and transparency...excuse me...I have to throw up!!
