NASHVILLE, Tenn. — An organization that tracks hate-group activity in the U.S. is accusing Vanderbilt University professor Carol Swain, a black scholar known for her conservative stances on race and immigration, of being an apologist for white supremacists.
The incident started last week when the Alabama-based Southern Poverty Law Center posted a blog item critiquing the documentary A Conversation About Race, mentioning that positive comments by Swain lent the film an air of legitimacy. (excerpted)

Never heard of this Prof. Swain. Good for her. I hope she becomes better known, though along with that comes the same kind of vitriol and abuse the ‘tolerant’ left heaps on Ann Coulter, Michele Malkin, et al.

It is coming a time very soon, where they too will say "Enough is Enough", this has got to stop. At least I hope they will come to their senses soon.
Professor Swain, you might want to be VERY CAREFUL, as BLACKS and LIBERAL WHITES can become EXTREMELY VIOLENT if their PLANTATION MENTALITY is challenged.

I couldn’t call racism a myth. However, the Southern Poverty Law Center has no authority, under the law or Constitution, to be censoring people’s opinions.

Professor Swain got into the news over Gates-gate. She was among those who defended the Cambridge police against those ridiculous charges of racism. So, I imagine they’ve been looking for ways to get her.
She is an extreme rarity in academia—a politically incorrect blacks. There are some well known black people who are conservatives, but darned few of them in academia. Because academia as a whole is about 95% liberal, and the last thing in the WORLD that most departments want on their hands is what they call an Uncle Tom—a black person who doesn’t get with the program.
She has my admiration. She’s probably smarter than Henry Louis Gates, but I’ll give you three guesses who gets the higher pay and unlimited speaking engagements.
Racism’s not a myth. There’s plenty of it coming from the left.
The nonjudgmental, diverse and tolerant left again shows its true stripes.
The views of Black Americans are widely sought and always welcome - unless the Blacks attempt to leave the Liberal plantation; then all those expressing such views are persecuted.
Who says slavery died with the Civil War?
The SPLC is a hard left racist group that can only see hate and racism in their leftist “politically correct” terms.
For instance, they say that opposition to illegal aliens crossing our border illegally by the millions is “racist”.
Yet they never use the “illegal” word, but always call it “immigration”
BTW, the film did not say that racism is a myth, it just exposed some of the double standards in the guilt tripping whites and racist blacks who can only see racism as a white evil.

Her most recent book, Debating Immigration, is a collection of 18 essays by Swain and other scholars that explore the nuances of contemporary immigration and citizenship in the U.S. and Europe. Her highly acclaimed book, Black Faces, Black Interests: The Representation of African Americans in Congress, was named one of the seven outstanding academic books of 1994 by Library Choice Journal, received the 1994 Woodrow Wilson prize for the best book published in the U.S. on government, politics or international affairs, the Hardeman Prize for best scholarly work on Congress during 1994-1995, and was the co-winner of the Key Award for the best book published on southern politics. Black Faces was cited by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy in Johnson v. DeGrandy (1994) and by Justice Sandra Day O'Connor in Georgia V. Ashcroft (2003). She has also written and co-authored books on white nationalism.
