God that’s nauseating.........!
One of the doctors said they had a study and most of the patients in the ER were Medicare patients. NOT people with out insurance. Proven fact he said.
” 300 baud modem “
You had one of those too???
I was one of the first subscribers to AOL when it first came out, and they had this nasty habit of sending large updates automatically (which could tie up everything for as much as an hour at 300bps) and then charging for the minutes...
I was also one of the first people to drop AOL (after an increasingly angry series of emails)
Me too. I was so proud and happy with my new bleeding-edge 1200 baud modem!
Yeah. I remember tying up the phone overnight to download a 600KB file - and the long distance bill.
With my first computer I used to store my programs using a cassette recorder.
That was unfortunate. I wonder if the kid planned it that way?

I was a late bloomer — my first computer was an early IBM 286/DOS....
(No, don’t ask me to write a .bat file anymore — that particular skillset has long since deserted me... ;))

Oh, now that's cool!
The very first experience I had with computers of any kind was a summer school class held at the local junior college. (I can't remember how old I was, but earlier than high school I think.)
Our project was to punch the cards to run a simple math problem in the college's computer. The stack was almost 3 inches high! (I hated punching those cards.)
1 Mhz. I’m still waiting for Motorola to ship me a new 6502 microprocessor that uses the 3.58 Mhz color burst television crystal.
It’ll be smokin!
Cheers
P.S. - Sorry for the late reply, I had to reboot my PET, rewind the cassette tape, and reload my network program in the computer...
:)
I still have my Atari 800 and two printers...I kept the boxes too! SOMEday they’ll be worth something ;-)
Ban insurance. Ban malpractice suits. Restore clinics for the poor. And things will get back to where they were 50 years ago when no one was dying in the street and no one was moaning about how much they had to spend for medical care.
