Gingrich says Scozzafava is "The Future of the Party"

"Gingrich, however, seems not to care about this brewing, inner-party divide. Instead, he championed Scozzafava's candidacy on Friday as the future of the party -- not necessarily the harbinger for a lingering party divide, as some pundits have speculated.

Newt is so beyond dead to me. He jumped the shark back in 1998. Pathetic.

“The Republican Revolution in 1994 started very much like what we see today,” the former speaker said. “Like then, our country is reeling from misguided liberal policies, high taxes and out-of-control spending. This special election in New York’s 23rd Congressional District could be the first election of the new Republican Revolution, but we need the momentum to get it started.”

Newt is correct here, but the trouble is that we've learned from our past mistakes. Once we gave gave power to moderate Republicans we got more "liberal policies, high taxes and out-of-control spending". No Thanks!

Vote for Conservative candidates not rinos.

Gingrich is a moral vacuum, a philandering putz, his compass more like a weathervane, twisting toward RINO, Dimocrat, and occasionally conservative if it suits his quest for power.

NOT to be trusted. Ever.

If this is the future of the party, the party is dead.

It seems Gingrich is fully “newtered” now. He took tons of heat as a conservative, and has been trying to prove how “reasonable” he can be ever since.

Gingrich lost his mind a long time ago. Yet some people on this website still push the guy to run in 2012. Mind-boggling.

may have stepped into a political quagmire after endorsing a moderate New York Republican
Gingrich *is* a political quagmire.

Not one damn dime, not one red cent to the traitorous RNC. And Gingrich must be completely off his meds.

Hell, they all must be.

Moderates and other people of weak conviction are not the future of the party.

This reflects Gingrich's fatal flaw: he over-values inside baseball as opposed to principle. Bad mistake for Newt, whom I generally like and respect for his creativity and ideas. But in spite of all reason, and even personal experience, he refuses to get that the opposition is not the "loyal opposition" of the textbooks.

It is the enemy of the American Way.

Newt just triangulated himself right out of the next republican presidential primary.

He endorsed Nelson A. Rockefeller in 1968 too, and this woman makes Nelson look like he was to the right of Goldwater!

If that’s the future of the pubbie party, make mine vanilla. I will NEVER vote for such a candidate and Gingrich has just shot his teeny little pecker off as far as I’m concerned. I would no more trust him with elective office than I would trust some pedo to babysit my granddaughter... Never happen, EVER.

Scozzafava has a page at Project Vote Smart, will a check card of her stances on the issues:

http://www.votesmart.org/npat.php?can_id=22881#515

Not a lot there that thrills me. I wasn’t expecting Barry Goldwater, but she’s not even Olympia Snowe - Snowe at least supports the death penalty.

This is shaping up to be a disaster, because the Dem will win (a takeaway - this was an R seat) and the party will have succeeded in shooting itself in the foot once again.

The Republicans will find out - if they haven’t already - that their fund-raising will be abysmal during the next election cycle if they keep foisting candidates like Dede upon us.

I hang up on the phone solicitations, and toss the mail in the garbage. I’m pissed off and have a right to be, but also feel that sending Dems to Washington will only further hasten the already breakneck speed of America’s demise.

Oh, Newt. What the hell are you thinking? There is no way Dede wins this with Hoffman in the race, and no way Hoffman bows out. It’s a Dem pickup, pure and simple, though he’ll garner little more than 35% of the votes.
