Rescuers are tracking and chasing a "homemade flying saucer" that is in flight with a 6-year-old, by himself, on board.
The incident started this morning in Fort Collins when the boy got into the balloon-like device, which was built by an adult, and it came loose from a tether, according to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.
The contraption could rise as high as 10,000 feet, the sheriff's office said.
The home-made flying saucer was last seen in flight over Weld County.
The sheriff's office is working the Federal Aviation Administration to determine how to best get the boy down.

Actually Shep got that idea from Martha McCallum (sp?) who co-hosts the Live Desk.
Oh yeah what about Jon and Kate LOL!
They don’t live the way I live. But that doesn’t make them bad. Just makes them uniquely American. It is what we are about.
Watching that thing fly thru the air and thinking a boy was inside was unnerving, and I am a manly former military guy.
Best possible outcome.
Oh. I even remember him quoting an email sent to him where someone questioned the intelligence of his question whether they looked under the bed. Too Funny!
That the kid be so grounded until age of 30 LOL!
You seem very judgmental about everyone except yourself.
Now that’s he’s at home...
Okay, why would the brothers be on the roof videotaping?
Think of the age of the brothers, going up on the roof themselves without permission, with their parents video equipment, without them knowing...
What did they ‘expect’ to tape?
Lastly, how the heck could law enforcement check the house twice (along with the parents that know all the favorite spots), and not find him... unless he moved?
How is it his brother could hold on to the same story under the questioning of law enforcement?
Why is it his father only mentioned the basket... two hours later and after the balloon landed (correct me if i’m wrong re: timing)?
Somewhere during this Fox was reporting DEN was diverting and gateholding. Probably some gateholding at other airports as well...Master Falcon and family cost a lot of folks some big bucks this afternoon...but still happy for the kid.
It just came through - the boy is alive - apparently he had been hiding in the attic.

Thank God!
OK all,
Now that the boy is safe, why were the parents with “victim advocates”?
May have been part of the poor reporting early on in this saga, but the report was that the parents were at home with victim advocates.
Wierd.
That is always an interesting come back. Oh, I don’t like what you are saying, you are too judgmental. Let me see... did I say the parents should face manslaughter charges? Did I say the parents planned this because they are media whores? Did I say the parents are nutcases because they did a reality TV show?
Sorry - already posted I see.
Either way, I’m glad the kid is alive and okay.
This might be the all time most expensive and spectacular kid mischief gone wrong in all of history.
I heard some noise outside and went out to see what was going on. There he was standing on the roof of the porch. Weird thing his 3 year old dog, was tugging on his shirt pulling him away from the side.
Do your math and see if it was possible to lift off.
Good luck. If you see Juliet, tell her there is an Orthodox Jewish guy who would gladly covert and eat Ham and Cheese on White bread for a date.
Times like this, I’m glad I don’t have satellite anymore. I would have been glued to the screen.
A policeman just said on nat.radio “we searched the whole home twice, but obviously not well enough. wish we did a better job.”...
A very sheepish voice ... LOL.
That was my question, as the helos showed it for more than an hour w/ no basket.
