The establishment media in the United States fears Rush Limbaugh more than any other media figure. Liberals who actually start to listen to his show frequently discover that his insights are rewarding, his humor is entertaining, and his combination of common sense and sophisticated analysis is compelling. Ever since his national show began, those who depend on establishment media for their information have been fed the line that he is hateful, racist, crude, and above all, not to be listened to.
The ability to persuade those who pay little attention to politics that Limbaugh is anathema to all that is decent and good lies behind the mindless acquiescence of NFL Commissioner Goodell to the smear campaign. Having fabricated two decades of smears, the media have been able to peddle the lies about Limbaugh successfully enough to get him dropped from the group seeking to buy the St. Louis Rams.

It will be interesting to see how this thing plays out.
Rush might have been stoppable 20 years ago. American icon now, too late.
What I find disappointing is that Rush’s black friends and associates did not step up to defend him.
I would have to say the same thing. Very good point.
I say it is time to stop paying their way...do not support the NFL, NBA, etc.
When you think about it, the whole thing happened so fast that it looks like the NFL people never planned to give him a chance.
It will end up making the league look very hypocritical with convicted felons and dubious characters like Michael Vick and Ray Lewis being welcome but someone who spouts conservative principles being deemed “too controversial.”
If all the Rush fans skipped watching NFL games this weekend and the ratings dropped precipitously (libs prefer watching soccer anyway), perhaps minds would change.
“What I find disappointing is that Rush’s black friends and associates did not step up to defend him. “
Great observation. It’s not PC, and many don’t want to hear it, but to a lot of black people, they are black first, above all else.
Obama's doing that for us, by destroying the economy. Pro sports owners are beginning to discover that.
Very good point.
Listened to Rush since October, 1991. I have never heard a racist word or song. I’ve heard liberals use racist words. I’ve heard liberals sing songs that perpetuate racist stereotypes. I’ve seen movies directed by liberals that featured racism and perpetuated cycle of poverty.
Rush says things that piss off the left and thought police. And in that f’ed up ever-changing world of retarded thinking, mocking a statist is akin to racist and sexist.
If anything, and people like Sharpton know this, Rush treats people like humans not voting blocks or countries to serve as backdrops to promote mega-concert tours or adoption PR circuses.
He’ll be on in 45 minutes and I’m sure he’s chomping at the bit ready to tell us his plan for handling this.
I hope he stops giving the NFL millions of dollars in free publicity every year. Goodell appreciates him about as much as something he stepped in.
I stopped watching NFL, NBA and baseball when they all went to affirmative action players and obscene pay scales.
I haven't supported NFL nor NBA thuggery in years... I'm more a fan of college basketball and football. Once the players go onto the NFL or NBA, I could give a rat's ass.
Hope this crap doesn't slide over into the MLB, as I am a big fan of major league baseball...
show up at NFL games clad in orange Club Gitmo wear and then walk out in the middle of the 3rd. qtr.
I have watched my last professional sporting event.
I am done with the NFL.
Done. Done. Done.
It’ll be nothing but local, grassroots dirt track racing from here on. This weekend is our last big race of the season.
It’s supposed to snow.
Ugh
I would hope that any Neilson family that is also a Rush fan would keep their TV off during football this weekend.
Listen on the radio if you must, but don’t give them any Neilson ratings.
If Rush declares that he is going to stop watching the NFL and his beloved Steelers, millions will follow his lead.
If he can’t do that much...why should others boycott the league because of the treatment he received?
So, I am waiting to hear what he has to say about all this before I decide to stop watching.
The Boss’ wife asked me for a list of his sponsors. She said she wanted to complain about “controversial” things he said. I asked which ones. Guess what her answer was?
“Oh, I don’t listen to him.”
