Media Research Center President Brent Bozell today demanded that CNN and MSNBC prove that radio talk show king Rush Limbaugh uttered a racist quote they have attributed to him as fact after Limbaugh publicly denied having ever said, Slavery built the South. Im not saying we should bring it back. Im just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark on his nationally syndicated airwaves.
"CNN and MSNBC must immediately and publicly source when Limbaugh uttered this phrase. He has unequivocally denied it. Now it is up to the same news media that reported it as fact to prove that it was, indeed, stated," NewsBusters Publisher Bozell insisted in a statement, arguing that if the charges are undocumentable, the offending networks are "100% guilty of character assassination."
The accusations against Limbaugh came in the wake of reports the radio talk show host is part of a group bidding for ownership of the St. Louis Rams NFL franchise. The full Bozell statement is appended below the page break:

The MRC has overnighted letters to senior executives at both cable networks demanding that they take this sourcing seriously and report back to the public. We await their word.
Either Rush Limbaugh is lying or these networks willfully or not are participants in the worst form of character assassination imaginable. They can prove their innocence by documenting this accusation. If they cant, then they are 100% guilty of character assassination.
Tomorrow we will go public with their response
I posted that same thing earlier today. A blogger posted it, it spread like wildfire with no one checking the validity, and thus, it became truth.
screw the apology and sue. we can watch a few staffers get thrown under the bus.
Wash your keyboard out with soap, LOL. Some troll will pick up that comment and start another rumor about Rush on the DU.
The Left is just so rabid to believe anything bad about Conservatives. But say nothing when the Administration hires a "Safe Schools" czar who allowed a pedophile to continue his perversions after being told about it by a student, and still he didn't report it. And this czar actually promotes gay rights for all school students. That's what his idea about "safe schools" is all about. Not about protecting the children from guns or knives, but allowing homosexual freedom. But don't tell the people at the DU...they won't believe that either - because Obama likes the guy/gay.
Brent Bozell is great.
Call ‘em out, Brent.
I personally remember every CNN & MSNBC reporter and every office-holder in the Democratic party confessing to raping their own grandmothers.
I’ll retract that as soon as they retract the lies against Limbaugh.
Yes it is. I am Asian and I am anti-communist.
Chump change to Rush to sue these idiots! Go, Rush, go!!
This is getting so nasty, but one of my first thoughts after the Usurper “won” the election was they would come after Rush. The audio I heard of the butthead player, don’t know the name, objecting to Rush being an owner really turned my stomach.
I bet they never apologize and never admit they did anything wrong.
The irony is, this all plays right into Sarah Palin’s hands, as she has railed against bloggers making stuff up and the MSM reporting it.
Now, wait a moment. For decades Black Liberation ministers, Black activists, Liberals, and other race hustlers have been insisting that America, not just the South, was indeed built by slavery. Now theyre saying thats not true?
Does anybody have the relevant email addies? These folks need to know that WE know that they’re liars.
Odd...Matthews is comparing Rush Limbaugh to a black villain in the Bond series.
The whole thing is stupid and disgusting, but couldn’t Matthews, under the circumstances, pick a WHITE villain?
The Networks......"ahhhhh, duh.....we seen it on the Internet.....duh.....". Limbaugh...."Cool. I have every word I have ever spoken on-air archived." The Networks..."ahhhh, duh....errrr". Limbaugh "See you in court, bring lawyers and money.....you're going to need it".
The quote started making the rounds when some internet leftie planted it at Wikiquote. He also planted the one about James Earl Ray, as well as one which was actually a slightly altered passage from Mein Kampf. The quotes are clearly bogus, but of course the left-wing dork-o-sphere picked them up and spread them far and wide.
Sue them, Rush. Sue them then own them. Remember Richard Jewell.
His lawyers have notified a whole slew of people that either they produce the cites or apologize publicly or further legal action will be forthcoming.
