Gavin Newsom loves Twitter. The San Francisco mayor is convinced his hometown microblogging service will change the world. How heartbreaking it must be, then, to read that a key Twitter coder can't wait to escape his "filthy... disastrous" town.

**Twitter coder can’t wait to escape his “filthy... disastrous” town.**
I’ve been there a few times, work related ...NOT by CHoice. If it was by choice the 2nd time would have been 2 too MANY. Can’t see where this guy has had said anything WRONG!
The truth hurts...I don’t know why’d anyone would subject themselves to this crud. It’s a embarrassment to the nation.
Somebody left their std in San FranSyphco....
I’m getting too old. I still don’t the big point about Twitter.
Guardian (UK): Will California become America's first failed state?
Shhh! Truth not allowed.
There are shards of promise, and gorgeous vistas, but it's like the town in classic Trek's Return of the Archons.
One more thing. I have lived in NYC my whole life...the good years and the awful years. And I have only been seriously threatened by a street derelict once. In San Francisco.
I joined Twitter this year. It’s been about as exciting as watching paint dry on the wall so far. My only bright point is that Karl Rove is now following my Twitter page...out of courtesy, I’m sure. I’m following his.
The "Homeless" will congregate wherever they are allowed to congregate. Where they are tolerated, allowed access to drugs and soup kitchens, they will be. Even if they have to defecate on the street. Most of them are so blasted out of their minds they probably have no idea they are crapping down their own pants leg.
San Francisco has tolerated - hell, they have PROMOTED - the Haight lifestyle since 1969. And that is why they have what they have - a true hell hole.
Twitter is a better version of RSS, for following news feeds. It updates quicker.
The piece’s author wants to live in a socialist paradise. He doesn’t know enough economics/history to realize there’s no such thing, and that he’s just trying to freeride down the sweet part of the social decay curve.
I’m a native Californian, born just south of Frisco, in Monterey. I’ve been to Frisco maybe eight times in my life, and every single time I’ve visited, I couldn’t wait to leave.
The place is depressing to me. It looks and feels completely different from anyplace else in the state - and not in a good way. It just seems alien to me. Like a city transplanted from somewhere else.
What makes you think the consequences are unintended? If they were, don’t you think the consequences would have invoked horror by now? Instead they are cause for celebration and pride.
You can’t fix stupid.
It’s truly wonderful. San Francisco exists as the embodiment of everything the true leftist could want. It’s government is the culmination of a generation of liberal activism and thought. Now, the prototypical leftist voter is upset that San Francisco is populated by liberals like himself (an annoying surplus of superifical and narcissistic well-to-do white nerds). So he wants to escape to the next soon-to-be San Francisco.
"That's why my KGB instructors specifically made the point, "never bother with leftists, forget about these political prostitutes - aim higher" this was my instruction. Try to get into, uh, large circulation, established conservative media. Reach filthy rich movie makers, intellectuals in so-called academic circles. Cynical, ego-centric people who can look into your eyes with angelic expression and tell you a lie. This are the most recruitable people; people who lack moral principals - who are either too greedy or too, uh, suffer from self-importance, uh, they feel that they matter a lot. Uh, these are the people who KGB wanted very much to recruit. "--Yuri Bezmenov, KGB Defector

Ouch! Good one (I think)...
Too true. It's hippies have come home to roost. Read it and weep:
