Gail Collins Blames Bush for Not Using 9/11 to Pass Big Government Energy Program

Bush's fault!

Liberals love to blame former president George W. Bush for such a wide variety of perceived woes that it has often turned into a joke. Don't like the current deficit? Bush's fault! Polar ice cap might melt in a century? Bush's fault! A baseball playoff game is called off because it was snowed out? Bush's fault!

The above are all jokes but to Gail Collins of the New York Times it is no joke. Bush's fault! And in her latest blame Bush rant, Collins blames Bush for the unlikelihood of the current Cap and Trade bill being passed by the Senate. Bush's fault! But in this case is that a bad thing if a high tax bill doesn't pass?

What kicked off Collins' latest rant was saying farewell for awhile to David Brooks in their periodic The Conversation column in which they discuss matters back and forth. Collins will be gone for a few weeks to go on a book tour but before she leaves she takes one final blast at her obsession:

Speaking of jerks, I’m afraid I’ve got to depart on a negative note because I need to register a long wail of pain and rage. It’s about George W. Bush.

I always thought that Drill Here! Drill Now! was a good idea. But folks like Gail Collins don’t like it.

One more good reason for thanking Bush. If he prevented Cap and Tax from passing, we owe him a huge thank you!

If cap and trade is really passed, I can guaran-d*mn-tee a civil war.

And I will sit back and enjoy it when the libs are placed at the firing squad wall.

Since the marginal cost of foreign produced oil is less than the marginal cost of domestic oil, a tax increase on all energy will reduce the production and use of domestic oil more than foreign oil, thus we will become more dependent on foreign sources if we just raise taxes.

Yep, congrats to Bush ... Now that the hoax has died, there is no science left, this winter is likely to be avery bad one for the hoaxers. Never bet against the sun, it supplies 98% of the energy to the surface of the earth.

Notice they want to use a crisis to push an agenda.

A much better plan would have been if Bush used 9/11 to push for new drilling and hew nuclear power plants. This would be real change.

“I always thought that Drill Here! Drill Now! was a good idea”

Me too!

I don’t know who is at fault but we should be drilling & building nuclear plants, and in a lesser but proper place wind & solar.

Fix the energy problem and a lot of other problems go away with it.

How about Big Government just getting out of the way and let us drill and use more of our own resources?

Has Gail Collins ever apologized to the young men at Duke who were falsly accussed of rape? Considering she was leading the ‘off with their heads’ charge for the NY Times I was just wondering.

I’m not an advocate of violence against women but jeez, I wonder how long it would take, to slap some sense into this skirt. For sure there is an obama sticker or two on her Prius.

If folks that “think” like she does, had a clue about truth and reality, they would not have journalism jobs that’s for sure. Truth isn’t worth a dime in the world of the statist, leftist, liberal, socialist, communist.

Drill here, Drill Now! would only appeal to her if the oil riggers were flannel-wearing butches wearing strap-ons.

Certainly Bush could/should have done more to make Energy Indpendence a national priority after 9/11 instead of shopping, but for the purpose of Globull Warming is ridiculous.

Collins is just another example of the perversity of affirmative discrimination. Forty years ago the Time’s would have had a slighly saner lib (I know, no jokes please) in Collins’s slot. Collins is the scribbler who advised women to divorce their husbands when they reached sixty so they could pursue avocations they really wanted. Men just get in the way. And she’s taken seriously. But so was Anna (Have I mentioned abortion lately) Quindlen who was a leftist ditz extroadinaire.
