Obama Vows Unqualified Support For Gay-Rights Agenda

Steven Thomma | McClatchy Newspapers WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama vowed his unwavering support for the full gay rights agenda Saturday night, saying that he'll push Congress to repeal the ban on gays serving openly in the military.

He also said that he'll work to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act that defined marriage as solely between a man and a woman, to guarantee that gay and lesbian couples get the same benefits as straight couples, and to ban anti-gay discrimination in the workplace.

"There are still laws to change and hearts to open," he told the annual dinner of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest gay rights group. "This fight continues. And ...I'm here with you in that fight," he said to applause and cheers.

It's not an easy fight, he said, because questions of equal rights for gays and lesbians still "raise a great deal of emotion in this country." But he said "these issues go to the heart of who we are as a people."

He acknowledged that he hasn't delivered as fast as gay rights activists want.

"I appreciate your support," he said. "I also appreciate that many of you don't think progress has come fast enough....It's not for me to ask you to be patient," he said, any more than it was right for anyone 50 years ago to ask African-Americans to be patient.

Joe Solmonese, the president of the group, introduced Obama with praise for his commitment to the gay rights agenda.

"We have never had a stronger ally in the White House - never," Salmonese said.

Gays want to “change hearts”? Really? Then prove to me (a rational person) that your relationships are truly about love, and not just about sex. Then you’ll see some hearts change.

That's because the little Muslim boy from Kenya has partaken of the forbidden fruit as he was growing up. It IS a common thing for older Muzzies to boink little boys. LOL

“Obama Vows Unqualified Support For Gay-Rights Agenda”

I would believe him to be quite unqualified, so yeah, why not?

Does it change hearts and minds when gays organize protest marches around Mormon churches?

Does it change hearts and minds when gays interrupt church services and drown out the minister and throw condoms around?

Does it change hearts and minds when Hollywood idiots join with idiots like Perez Hilton and publicly abuse a beauty pageant contestant who has the audacity to say she believes marriage is a man and a woman?

Does it change hearts and minds when they behave in such a belligerant and antagonistic manner towards anyone who has not yet swallowed the whole gay agenda?

Does it change hearts and minds when yet another marriage lawsuit against Proposition 8 in California is pending, this time in federal court? They can’t leave that issue alone after losses in courts and the ballot box?

Bill Clinton was our first black president. So I guess Obama is going for the first gay president legacy.

Things are going downhill, fast for this laughing stock. I’m actually starting to feel a twinge of pity for BHO.

I think homosexuality is a mental disorder as well as immoral, but I don’t doubt that homosexual couples are capable of love. I also respect them as fellow souls and hope they someday repent.

By no means should we normalize their behavior. It’s destructive to society. But they deserve to be treated kindly. Their weakness isn’t spiritually different from alcoholism, heterosexual sex addition, or any other destructive behavior common to mankind.

Temptation is normal. Our (and their) best hope is to repent and look to Christ to help us resist temptation and live lives free from sin.

Claims he is the strongest ally they ever had? That sounds like a dig at Clinton! Watch for Bill to get offended and maybe have some comments. Would be great to see these 2 lefties have a rift.

The problem with that is they are not seeking kindness. They want our children to believe the lie that they were “made” this way. They want to serve in the pulpit making a mockery of God's law and our Christian beliefs. As a Christian, this angers me beyond words. I do not believe that they are capable of “love” as the Bible defines love until their hearts are changed.

Isn't it strange that Zero couldn't find time to address the National Prayer Breakfast but had no problem being the keynote speaker for this gay-rights group?
