Barack Obama's peace prize starts a fight (Not Satire)

In a clear swipe at his predecessor, George W. Bush, the committee praised the “change in the international climate” that the President had brought, along with his cherished goal of ridding the world of nuclear weapons.

But Lech Walesa, [SNIP], who won the Peace Prize in 1983, [SNIP], declaring: “So soon? Too early. He has no contribution so far.”

Mr Obama’s domestic critics leapt on the award as evidence of foreigners fawning over an untested “celebrity” leader.

[SNIP]

The Nobel Peace Prize is a notoriously difficult award to predict, but yesterday's decision was clearly a political choice, with three of the past six peace awards going to Bush adversaries.

In 2002 the prize went to Jimmy Carter as an explicit rejection of the Bush presidency in the build-up to the Iraq war. In 2005 Mohamed ElBaradei, the UN atomic agency chief who had clashed with Washington over the search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, was honoured. In 2007 Al Gore received the prize for his warnings on climate change, denounced by President Bush as a liberal myth.

[SNIP]

Thorbjørn Jagland, the committee chairman, made clear that this year’s prize fell in that category. “If you look at the history of the Peace Prize, we have on many occasions given it to try to enhance what many personalities were trying to do,” he said. [SNIP]

But Bobby Muller, who won the Nobel Prize as co-founder of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, told The Times: "I don't have the highest regard for the thinking or process of the Nobel committee. Maybe Norway should give it to Sweden so they can more properly handle the Peace Prize along with all the other Nobel prizes."

The primary reason that the Nobel Prize for Peace was awarded to Obama was out of revenge toward George W. Bush and those that voted for him, namely conservatives. If Norway fell into the sea tomorrow, it wouldn’t be missed. The only time that Norway is noticed by anyone outside of Norway is the awarding of the Nobel Prize for Peace, and it manages to screw that up, too. It is difficult to believe that this is the ancestral home of the Vikings or Norsemen that raped, burned, pillaged, and looted most of Europe. Today, a child with a stick could defeat them. If it weren’t for leaders such as George W. Bush, Norway would be a colony of the Soviet Union, as would be the rest of Europe.

Jimmy Carter in 2002, Al Gore in 2007, and bambi now. You’re clearly correct. Ronald Reagan freed hundreds of millions in Europe, and never received it, the NPP is a freaking joke. And it is reflected upon it’s latest winner.

It said that he was being honoured for his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples”.

Meanwhile Iran, North Korea and Venezeula are all going nuclear....

and announced that he would donate the £880,000 prize, due to be awarded in December, to charity.

And by "charity" he means ACORN.

The Nobel Peace Prize is a notoriously difficult award to predict, but yesterday's decision was clearly a political choice, with three of the past six peace awards going to Bush adversaries.

Gee you really think this was political? Nobel Committee people run in the same circles as Time Journalists and we all know you reporter types are unbiased...

I disagree with your assessment of Norway, they have a great cross country Nordic ski team, and that sport for cross-country skiing and shooting a rifle for the Olympics. The Vikings are rolling over in their graves.

I just don't get it. The guy who started the Nobel wanted to end all land wars, but ended up creating TNT. As we all know, that was the precursor that enabled all armies (in land wars) to kill more efficiently.

Then we have Ronald Reagan, who without firing a shot (so to speak), defeated the USSR and freed over 500 million people, and he didn't win the Nobel.

Fast forward to president Bush, who after America being attacked, freed over 50 million Muslims (including women, who had been oppressed for thousands of years), and he didn't win the Nobel.

Now, we have 0bama, who has been in office barely 220 days, and has freed tax cheats, pedophiles, and America haters, etc., and he gets the Nobel Peace prize. Without doing anything, except talking.

I am convinced that I now live in a parallel universe, where up is down, left is right, and war is peace.

Don't quote me on this, but somehow, in some way, the universe is going to right itself according to the laws of nature's G-d. And it won't be pretty.

Don’t you feel the world is gone wacky? And not just America, we’re just the last to join the socialism bandwagon. We have way too much free time, way too much texting, way too much internet, way too much to ‘create an utopia’. Too much leisure leads to complacency and liberal politics. And it leads to Iran threatening to nuke Israel and the rest of the west. The muslims don’t buy it, and in a bizarre way, have more values and guts than the West. They stick to their views.

The only characteristic the committee members need is arrogance. They are certainly drawn to their own bedfellows.

Did you hear the reaction of the crowd at the announcement? They gasped and almost booed. I think the Norwegian Parliament is going to look over the activities of this committee.

Given how some people are getting fed up with congress and its arrogant “Rules for thee, but none for me” attitude and how there are several hot-spots that could lead to a shooting civil-war; yeah, you better bet on it.

The Indo-European Norwegians have apparantly murdered fewer Sa’ami than their cousins in Sweden and Finland. There are all of 60,000 people of that type left in the country ~ a vast swarm by Sa’ami standards.

SNL should have a field day with this joke!

Haven't watched SNL since they began tearing into Bush on a weekly basis. But I may tune in this Saturday to see some more good comedy regarding this prize. I like Steyn's comment that Miss World contest, Dec. 12, Johannesburg will be the next big win for the Obamessiah.

I DID hear that! Local WMAL radio had it on this morning ... I was still in shock, driving around.

One caller to their local rush hour talk show said “do you know how hard it is to drive when you’re banging your head on the steering wheel?” In the end, the Nobel committee did Obama no favors.

The most beautiful thing about all of this is that Obama’s arrogance and ego kept him from doing the right thing by declining acceptance.

Had he declined, he would have not displayed another chink in his armor and he may have even looked good to some.

Now he’s seen for his true colors, a selfish, self centered joke..... a laughing stock to the entire world.

Rat-face blew it... his ego would not let him even act presidential.

So from my perspective, today was a good day.

Not really. The Chippewa, Iriquois and Cherokee (who have the greatest percentage of folks with the X-factor genes found uniquely in the Sa'ami and the Berbers) are our Sa'ami.

But back when the white people from Europe (as distinct from the Fenno-Scandinavian peninsula) were first discovering the Sapma, they were much more barbaric than when they discovered America.

Most folks in America of Sa'ami descent can claim that ancestry from the early New Sweden colony. Well over 95% of all Sa'ami origin people live in America.
