I’ve read good things about Vitamin D3 as well.

I hope you are taking Vit D3....(on doc orders, of course)...and consider Garlic tabs....they have been reported to help in flu prevention.

We have just been through the swine flu with both kids, thankfully my hubby and I avoided it. The second case was much milder than the first, and the first one started out scary (104.4 and a trip to the ER), but turned mild very quickly.

We received a Rx for tamiflu from the ER doctor, but never used it, but we did use (on recommendation of a naturalist mom we know!)

frequent large doses of vitamin C (as Emergen-C, 1000mg/packet, 4-5 packets a day),

fresh garlic (made garlic toast with it),

Sambucol (a syrup made from elderberries which is strongly antiviral),

and, for the ones who actually showed symptoms, oscillococcinum (homeopathic flu remedy) every 4 hours for two days.

On the first day of the first child becoming sick and being diagnosed, the whole family started the recommended regimen, and all in all I’d say it worked very well for us! Just thought I would pass along the info in case it can help your family too. The Sambucol and oscillococcinum can be found in the Walgreen’s near the Zycam products, at least in this part of the country, I imagine they have a chain wide protocol. Good luck and stay well!

I’m going to look into oregano oil to move this out faster.

I just got started using essential oils about six weeks ago. It was interesting that the day I received oregano oil in the mail, I came down with a severe sore throat (could well have been strep, but I didn't get tested) and by morning, the soreness was completely gone. I used only one drop of oil in 6 ounces of hot water and gargled. I did this twice and that's all it took. Absolutely amazing stuff. I also sometimes put it on the bottoms of my feet and toes when I sleep. I use R.C. oil for my chest (great eucalyptus blend stuff) mixed with some V-6 oil for the lungs. I also have used Thieves instead of the oregano. I get my oils from YoungLiving, and I'm really pleased with their products thus far.

"I’m going to look into oregano oil to move this out faster."

Oregano oil is reportedly very good. Also, please check out lemongrass (cymbopogon citrata), which is available as a tea (at HEB if you have them), and also thymol, which is a component of Listerine, and an inactive(?) ingredient in Vicks Vaporub.

"the swine flue vacinne has gone through 4 months of testing, 100’s of thousands of vacinations have been given with no ill effects,"

Not that I doubt your veracity, but I find your statement that 100’s of thousands have been given with NO ILL effects of ANY drug to be completely unbelievable. Could you please provide the source for this revolutionary information? A link maybe?

[[I just got over the flu today. I started feeling the effect of lethargy, joint and muscle pain on Tuesday Sept 29. Then I felt like I had been rode up hill several miles and put away dripping wet. In other words like complete crap. I had a hard time eating, food had no taste and I had severe lower abdominal cramps, they came in waves. This lasted for a few days and the symptoms seemed to subside some. Then on Monday Oct 5 they started all over again, everything previously listed.]]

This is osmething that is goign aroudn that isn’t the swine flu- We all had it aroudn here too- throwing up- the runs, slight fever, mild coughing etc- Wasn’t pleasnat for sure- but I don’t beleive it is swine flu- I’ve got asthma myself, and the swine flu will tell me in no uncertain terms if I get it- my breathign will become quite bad- maybe critically so, as any respiratory flus usually cause bad problems with my breathing- but the swine is suppsoed to be worse than regualr flus with breathign symptoms problems- I thin ya justy got another flu that’s goign around right now

Or even worse, what if a flu shot affects our immunity to the other nasty stuff that is not flu related. We still don’t know everything about the immune system I would hate to overload it or create so many different immunities that the body decides itself is an invader and we start having more cases of auto immune disorders.

"What if?" If it were so, we'd know by now.

There's no trial quite as big and uncontrolled as the yearly flu shots given to our large and diverse population in this country.

We have nearly 50 years of use of the attenuated (like the nasal mist vaccines) and killed (like the shot for the H1N1 this year) virus vaccines and about 20 of experience with the recombinant DNA vaccines for flu (most of the seasonal flu vaccine shots). The numbers of shots given over that time is huge.

Vaccines train your immune system to watch out for a given set of proteins and speed the response to them when you are exposed by being infected.

The only way that vaccines could be said to leave the population vulnerable to other infections is that more people who would have died from the original disease are living.

The history of the 1918 influenza that killed one fifth of the world's population has interested me since I read "Pale Horse, Dark Rider" by Katherine Anne Porter nearly 30 years ago. Miss Porter nearly died of the flu and lost her hair, which then came in all white. She was stunned by the loss of friends and loved ones - and the sheer numbers. (I think her fiance died of the flu.)

Tamiflu is supposed to cut the infection to 5 - 7 days instead of the usual 7-14 days. However, when started in the first 48 hours of symptoms, it does decrease the time that the virus is shed - to about 48 hours after starting the twice a day for 5 day regimen. Otherwise, we believe you are contagious until the fever is gone or the nasal congestion ends, whichever is last.

ANTIBIOTICS DO NOT WORK ON THE FLU.
Antibiotics work on bacteria. The Flu is a virus. If your doc prescribed an antibiotic for the flu, DROP HIM NOW.

The virus changes strains every year. The In late winter, they predict what strains may be around in the fall, since it takes several months to start making the vaccine. Sometimes they are wrong and the shot won’t help.

The reason they are worried about H1N1 is the 1918 (Spanish) flu was H1N1. That was the most deadly flu in recent human history. It was mild in the spring, but then it mutated and in the fall, it killed millions worldwide. More died from the flu than the fighting in WWI. They are taking precautions in case it mutates similarly this time.

This vaccine is made like all the rest of teh flu vaccines, year in and year out.

If it’s the same flu vaccine they’ve been using for decades, why did the swine flu vaccine kill thousands and give thousands more french polio? It would have used this same technology I’m assuming. Or is your “decades” fact wrong. Just curious how that could be.

You are being much too rational. The motivation for desiring to inoculate everyone in the country is mostly left wing emotionalism. Sorta like global warming. Create an imaginary crisis, then save everyone from it.

Re - Global Warming: Follow the money. Al Gore got filthy stinkin' rich. Cap and trade is about redistributing YOUR wealth to the "progressive" leadership and their friends.

No matter how magnanimous they act, it's about money. The emotionalism is a tool effectively used to manipulate the stupid.

That is not true. No adjuvants have been approved, and mercury only in some of them.

“But not knowing that doesn’t stop someone from trying to use the situation to draw attention to his cause.”

As I understand the law its up to the drug maker to prove their drug has been tested.

“Most of the crap you see here and else-where is simple fear-mongering and paranoia”

So are you referring to the H1N1 hysterical crowd or those who question the hysterical crowd?

“I wish you the best of luck in making this difficult decision.”

Difficult? Whats so difficult about it.

Source? I’ve read of numerous deaths related to the vaccine.

As I understand the law its up to the drug maker to prove their drug has been tested.

And then, after doing so and before it can be marketed, the FDA reviews the testing data and approves the drug.

They aren't trying to save lives -but the government must look as if they are doing everything they can in order to save lives.

Do people within the government know how to count? If so, why did they send out only a miniscule supply of the drug? Furthermore, take a look at exactly who was first inoculated.

As for the years of testing, this is very true. Laws were developed in order for FDA approval to come that showed after a lengthy process that a drug could do what was claimed the drug could do. In addition, think about when watching the prescription drug commercials on T. V. Remember the lists of possible side effects that are always listed when advertising the drug(s)?

Right, so if there isn’t proof of testing it seems prudent to force the FDA to stop the use of the vaccine.

I read somewhere that Obama was heavily invested with the vaccine makes so I don’t expect anything to stop its widespread use. Don’t recall the source.
