I am so surprised that Moore is a Catholic.
I hope he goes to confession about the lying he does in his so-called documentaries.

Hannity on the other hand doesn’t seem to know that abortion is always wrong.

He also needs some churching.

The parable of the rich man WASN"T about the wealth the rich man had. The rich man came to Jesus, pretty sure he had EARNED his way there. When Jesus told him what to DO, he said I've done that. Jesus knew what was in the mans heart, and what the man was getting at. He knew that the man valued his money over all else. So he told the man to give his money to the poor.

Also, Jesus said a rich man COULDN'T get to heaven, he said it was easier for a camel to get through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter heaven.

Meaning its hard, not impossible.

Christianity demonizes worldliness, riches, and achievement, while extolling deprivation, humiliation, and sacrifices for causes “greater than self.” Socialists take the Christians up on this and do so without hypocrisy

What B$, Catholics maybe, but not most Protestants. And of course as I stated elsewhere at least one Mormon I know.

Commie liar Moore also said to Hannity yesterday that he cared about our troops in Iraq.

Michael Moore (quote), from his website, April 14, 2004...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

"The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not 'insurgents' or 'terrorists' or 'The Enemy.' They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow -- and they will win. Get it, Mr. Bush?"
[actual quote from Michael Moore (2004). It still appears on his website]

Yeah, Jeremiah Wright is a "Christian" too.

I'm just sayin' I wouldn't want to be in the Wright/Moore line on Judgement Day.

Like I told someone else on this thread, Moore is Liberation Theology type of Catholic. Liberation theology was designed to take parts of Catholicism and use it as a community organizing tool. They take the parts that they can twist to their agenda and use it in the Saul Alinsky method of making Christians live up to their own rules and values. The Black Liberation Theology was an off shoot of the Catholic Liberation Theology of South America. The Jesus was a community organizer came from that.

Michael (and Sean, for that matter) came up during the time when catechism was not taught. My age group (1949) was about the last group to receive traditional catechism. It would be difficult for them to add anything to the debate. If you wanted to hear a debate on the shortcomings of liberation theology, or the reason communism is not Catholicism, Sean would have been better served by having John Corapi do the interview, or at least moderate it.

Those who came up just after us received nothing but Kumbaya and New Age, hippy-dippy, anything goes training. It is no wonder the two sounded like Dumb and Dumber.

It’s part of the Obama-Kmiec strategy to divide Catholics. Moore fits in with the “Obama-Catholics” who claim that Obama is more in tune with “Catholic Social Teaching” because he (and Monsieur Moore) cares about the poor and the conservatives only care about aborted fetuses; besides conservatives are capitalists, capitalism hates the poor, Catholics can’t be capitalists.

If Obama’s people can succeed in synchronizing “Catholicism” with “Liberalism” and making “Catholicism” and “Conservatism” mutually exclusive, they will be able to hold on to enough “Catholics” (mostly the ones not paying much attention, but also the lib-Caths who are paying attention) to keep winning.

At least that’s their strategy. To do it they need stooges like Kmiec but may have failed sufficiently to be scraping the bottom of the barrel and thus entrusted Fatso Moore with an Ambassadorship to the Wingnut Catholics.

That being said, Hannity would be more credible in his claims to be a good Catholic if he’d actually learn a bit about why the Church opposes contraception. (It lies behind all the social pathologies, divorce, absent fathers etc.) If Hannity could be bothered to learn a bit about his Catholic faith, he would realize he could actually follow the Church here and still be consistent with his social convinctions, but he’s too obtuse to realize it, so he trumpets his dissent on this point.

Sloppy is being very nice. Hannity was made to look like a fool because he allowed Fat Bastard to derail the discussion and take control of it.

Well said...Sean only knows how to regurgitate talking points. Has he ever had an original thought?

Hannity always does a poor job when he gets on to his Catholic shtick. He needs to learn the Catholic faith before he presents himself as its defender.

The commenter who describe him and Fatso Moore as Dumb and Dumber hit the nail on the head.

The Democratic Party has spent five years urging its members to speak up about their faith to combat the conventional wisdom that the GOP is more religion-friendly.

THEY WILL DO ANYTHING FOR POWER That's the evil strategy of the nasty toad---Rahm (Uriah Heep) Emanuel. Rahm also ran the Marxist Ohaha as a clone of Ronald Reagan.

David Copperfield's ingratiating scoundrel fits Rahm to a tee.

Uriah Heep was notorious for wielding undue influence, a manipulative bounder who was always planning and plotting, ingratiating himself into the confidence of others. Uriah Heep was obsequious, manipulative, and wormed his way into positions of influence. Uriah was a consummate con man, and not to be trusted.

Translated into the language of the popular culture, Uriah Heep Rahm, positions himself as amenable to American values but is insincere in these feelings; he uses important issues to advance his hidden agendas and political ambitions.

Like Uriah Heep, power-hungry Rahm feeds on others, and deploys self-serving strategies for his own self-absorbed purposes.

We conservatives are on to this, aware of Whom we serve and watch carefully to see if government promises made to them are empty.

We know this-----Rahm evinces an utter contempt for our culture and is obsessed with party politics. Watch him on TV---Rahm coyly speaks the language to appeal to American values, but he is not a true believer, he is a calculating conniver----a latter-day Uriah Heep.

===================================

FRIGHTENING STATEMENT Obama has stated that Rahm tells him "everything he needs to know about Israel." Rahm Emanuel is a dual Israeli-American citizen. It is not clear whether a dual citizen is permitted to serve in a high level US govt job that makes policy decisions for American citizens.

I couldn’t stand to watch it all. Liberals constantly deviate from the question put before them. Moore is a good example. If Moore is so into church, Hannity should have asked him his position on the cross over the WWII memorial.

The kids that went to my school often had to leave early from classes to go to catechism. I was in grade school in the 60s and 70s. Maybe it wasn’t traditional catechism.

Love your post and think you are an extremely smart guy. As a born again Christian I’d like to suggest you continue your studies into the Bible and learn to ‘Rightly devide the truth. 2 Timothy, 2,15.

The books and passages of the Bible are devided and pertain to times and peoples. This is the single largest mistake made by all of us is that we apply all words to us and or “our” times and races. Not so.

I myself am at best a simpleton. You have a God given gift in your brain. I simply ask, that in your free time study the book with the “division of times and peoples intended”.

I watched a little over one minute of this on TV before — choking back the bile surging in my throat — I leaped from the sofa and snapped off the television.

Michael Moore is patently evil.

First he denied being rich. Then he stated capitalism did not make him rich. Then he began to bash the USA and I just couldn’t take it.

Here is hoping his fatal heart attack comes soon. Micheal, please keep packing away the iced donuts and desserts. Your timely demise can’t come soon enough, you evil malignint corpulant communist.

Remember when Michael Mooron derided the U.S. as “Jesusland” after either the 2000 or 2004 election?

The man couldn’t be much more of a hypocrite.

"Christianity is why the West cannot kick the socialist habit"

Utter nonsense! Christianity is why there IS a west. Some misguided and some down right evil folks use out-of-context pull quotes from God's word to further their dark desires. No doubt about that. And nothing new either. From Genesis to The Revelation such strategy has always been Satan's modus operandi. It's quite difficult to miss that, actually, for those who've read His word.

"At least there is hope for the...Chinese"

That's quite true. Christianity is on the rise there and on the wane here. Already they top America in a Christian head count. Let's pray they eventually match our percentages.

"...a rich man can’t get into heaven..."

Michael Moore could not have misstated that better himself.

"Read the parable of the young rich man, Matthew 19:16-28"

Reading is one thing. Understanding is another. Especially when it comes to parables.

I won't give a whole sermon here, but let me quickly explain this portion of your mentioned parable:

"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

Mountn man is on the right track when he mentions that this does not mean it is impossible for a rich guy to make it in. And liberty or death is quite helpful in pointing out that one needs to "rightly divide" God's word.

To understand the true meaning of this quote, one must realize that Christ was utilizing a proverb common in the East at the time. The English translation of the ancient Greek does not make it clear that the camel is "laden" with its burden (earthly goods). Nor does it make clear that the "eye of the needle" is a reference to the smaller gate which most walled cities of the time had and which was the only way to get in at times when the larger gates were closed to keep out the undesirables (at night, etc.). Thus the camel had to be relieved of its burden to get through the smaller passage. Meaning rich guys who are TOO attached to their money need to be unburdened of such attachment before being acceptable.

If Christ's parables were to be understood as literal instruction in the way that you are misunderstanding the parable of the rich man, then I would respond with Christ's parable of the talents a few chapters later:

There Christ tells of three servants given various amounts of talents (money in the literal sense) to care for while the Master was away. Two servants "went and traded" (like good capitalists) doubling their money. One simply buried it. When the Master returned, He was so pissed at the third guy that He called him "wicked and slothful" and chided that he should have at least put the money in the bank to earn interest. Then the Master proceeded to take the money from that dolt and give it to the guy with the MOST money! Saying:

"For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath."

OUCH!!!

To read this as you've read the prior parable then we should be taxing the poor and subsidizing the rich. But, of course, that would be to completely misunderstand Christ's meaning.

There were a number of reasons Christ sometimes spoke in parables. I can expound on them if anyone desires that knowledge who doesn't currently possess it.

I'm glad you are reading God's word. Keep it up and pray for understanding. But suffice it to say, you've missed the mark on the parable of the rich man. I pray you don't use the same reasoning when you get a few parables further into Matthew or you'll be convinced that only sheep get into heaven!

Finally, if you believe that rich guys can't get into heaven then where do you think Christ's wealthy ancestors such as God's hand-picked King David, his immensely wealthy son Solomon, Christ's adoptive father Joseph and the other goodly rich folk mentioned in His word are hanging out today?

Earthly riches are a blessing to those who can handle it just as this wealthy nation has been a blessing to the world in many ways.
