WASHINGTON (AP) - Assaulting people because of their sexual orientation would become a federal hate crime in legislation the House is set to vote on Thursday. The bill would significantly expand the hate crimes law enacted in the days after Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination in 1968.
With the expected House passage and eventual approval by the Senate, federal prosecutors will for the first time be able to intervene in cases of violence perpetrated against gays based on their sexual orientation.

And when the rights of Christians are threatened, I know what side I will take.

I thought that was the whole point.
“Hate Crime Laws” are actually (and this has been demonstrated in Canada) “anti-Christian laws”.

What they really need to do is make verbal assualt on politicians a hate crime.

Assaulting people because of their sexual orientation would become a federal hate crime I thought it already was.
Christians and Conservatives also need to be included on that "protected" list.

These so-called 'gays' need to be covered.

All this means is an openly gay man can do or say anything he wants, they will be like a protected species that cannot be touched. (not that I would ever want to touch one mind you...)

This ought to be fun. How about the rights of polygamists? And you know the hate crimes against the goat ...
My guess is the Supreme Court might argue that equal protection under the law is what is supreme.

The whole point is to criminalize
anyone who quotes the bible
on the abomination, indecency, and perversion
of homosexual lusts and acts.

If you want to know how they’ll apply their ideology to any given situation,
all you have to ask is “what position on this issue would further the destruction of the traditional family and/or Western Civilization”,
and you’ll know which side of the issue the left will take.

Hmmm. Growing up, I was subjected to more ethnic jokes than I care to remember, because my last name ends in “ski”.
Where’s my personal hate crime? I wanna sue somebody.

If your ethnic group or culture was actively opposed to Western traditional culture,
you’d be protected by “hate crime” legislation.
I don’t think the Poles, being white European Western Culture followers, will ever qualify for protection.

And, if this law passes the next logical (to them) progression will be to make it a hate crime to forbid your children to participate in anything remotely resembling homosexuality.
Between the "hate crimes", "EEO", and "obamaland tactics", the white, christians in this country are being set up to be the next group of "slaves", with no rights whatsoever. Reparation is not only about money....

It’s about time. I’ve noticed gay people are very hateful, and it’s about time that when they attack me and my family, or others who think like I do, they should be punished.
