While Congress wrestles with various ways to strip ACORN of any remaining federal funding, the White House has somewhat quietly begun to disconnect itself from the community-organizing group. OMB director Peter Orszag yesterday sent the following compliance memo to all Executive Branch agencies to meet the requirements of the continuing resolutions that Congress have already passed to keep the government funded in the absence of a budget. Orszag basically says to cut ACORN off immediately:

Under the bus goes ACORN.....
Yeah, right. With the CCO in the WH?
Not the biggest victory, but definitely Obama doing damage control—finally getting ahead of an issue rather than letting it blindside him.
Under the bus is too good for ACORN. We were alerted to ACORN
many months ago and only recently have they become an issue. This should tell you how long it takes the MSM to decide that an issue should be reported. Talk radio exposed ACORN some time in 2007 or even earlier, but since it was an Obama promoted organization the MSM refused to give talk radio any credibility in the matter. Only after they were hit over the head with evidence that could not be ignored did they pick up the story. This is called investigative journalism, or perhaps more aptly called, “head in the sand” journalism.
Hardly. You should have seen Roland Burris yesterday, defend them and praise their work.
UPDATE——wiggle room?
Update: Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) tells local station KTLK that the cut-off only runs through October, and that ACORN funding could be restored when Congress actually passes the FY2010 budget.

Wow that odumbo sure got tough. cutting off funds for 2.5 weeks.
That is an insult actually and something MSM should cover
thanks for the update
Many articles recently on the cutting off of funding to ACORN, but none of them address the vast quantity of offshoots, or as I call them tentacles of the ACORN octopus, nor do any of them address ACORN’s costume change to Community Organizers International.
Perhaps I’ve missed something, but I don’t believe any of this funding cutoff crap as long as there isn’t acknowledgement of COI as the new ACORN, and as long as we aren’t informed of the governments relations with the new face of ACORN which is COI.
The dance floor is still dominated by Squirrels in drag.
Al Sharpton, predictably, is saying that these attacks on ACORN are racist.
Stop the presses!
SEC. 163. None of the funds made available by this joint resolution or any prior Act may be provided to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), or any of its affiliates, subsidiaries, or allied organizations.
Don’t hold your breath.
“SEC. 163. None of the funds made available by this joint resolution or any prior Act may be provided to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), or any of its affiliates, subsidiaries, or allied organizations.”
Thanks. I missed that one.
BTW I still don’t believe it. The Dems will fund them somehow. It’s in their blood to break the laws. Zay vill haf zair vay, or else.
So how did ACORN wind up getting that million bucks yesterday?
How stupid these Dems are. If Sharpton says attacks on ACORN are RACIST...then he is ADMITTING THAT IT IS A BLACK ONLY ORGANIZATION! I doubt that fact was supposed to be known, but he has brought it out with his complaing. So, if that is true, then ACORN is, admittedly, the RACIST party in this. Not those who have busted it.
By complaining, he is, in essence, burying it further. Of course, the alphabet networks and press will miss that inuendo. It is above their pay grade to think that hard or clearly.
