SEVIERVILLE Former President George W. Bush addressed a capacity crowd Wednesday night at the Wilderness Resort and Convention Center in Sevierville.
Bush wowed a crowd of more than 9,000 that attended a three-day conference of the Phil Waldrep Ministries based in Decatur, Ala.
Bush gave the enthusiastic crowd a patriotic message of joy, hope and faith in our families.
Each branch of the military was recognized during the 90-minute program.
Every day in the White House was a joyous day for me, the 43rd president said. I miss being commander and chief of our military the most. You know you live in an amazing country when we have servicemen that continually volunteer to serve their country in the face of danger. I believe we have an obligation to give our troops all the support they need to accomplish their missions.
The former president said he still has faith that conflicts in the Middle East can eventually be resolved.
There are individuals out there that kill to achieve their ideology, he said. In the United States, our ideology is our assurance to freedom. Thats what makes us great and unique.

I certainly miss GW being the commander in chief, too.
I know they must miss you DESPERATELY right now, Mr. President. :(
And to think just 10 months ago, we had a Commander in Chief who genuinely cared for our military.
For all of Bush’s faults (and there were some big ones) he always was steadfast in his support and love of our troops.
History will be kinder to him than our current media.
Well, the job of Commander In Chief still has not been filled, George.
So do I!!!
Especially with loved ones getting ready for deployment!
Our current CIC thinks voting present is decisiveness.
Miss him more than I can say. Haven’t had a good nights sleep since Obama was sworn in..
AMEN to that.
and the troops certainly miss having a commander as well
This actually brought tears to my eyes.
Bump

Can imagine what Obama will miss the most? Doubt being CIC will be on his short-list. I suspect it will be the constant attention paid to him, along with feelings of grandeur based on his title. All narcissism.
Do you know if these Ministries are especially focused on military families, or if the location of the Convention is near a base?
Ditto
The shiney rides?
The servants?
The photo ops?
God Bless You, Mr. President!
I know what you mean...
Don’t forget all the bennies. AF1, michelle’s 20+ servants, globe trotting while accomplishing nothing, all on the taxpayers dime.
Our military misses you, GWB.
I’m glad I’m retired. To salute that Obama-hole would require me to carry a barf bag in my left hand...and to tape my middle finger down in my right hand - lest it show the vacuum-head my true feelings.
