***Policy change comes after child died from bite at North Carolina's Camp Lejeune***
U.S. Marines are known for being aggressive, but service brass don't want the troops' dogs to have the same trait.
Marine Corps headquarters in Washington recently instituted a ban on what it considers dangerous dogs at its bases worldwide.
The policy specifically bans purebred and mixed breed pit bulls, Rottweilers, wolf hybrids "or any canine breed with dominant traits of aggression" that pose a risk to people living in base family housing.
The Marine Corps' mascot, the bulldog, is not mentioned in the new policy.
A spokeswoman for the American Kennel Club said banning any one breed doesn't make sense.

Absolutely ridiculous.
(( ping ))
What is next to be Banned? Guns??
Portuguese water torture dogs not mentioned.
Small, yapping terriers would certainly annoy a determined foe.
More micromanagement from Obama and The Bedwetters
Countless thousands of soldier’s lives were saved by “aggressive dogs”.
This is beyond stupid.

LMAO Good one!
Next up, bandoliers.
Accidentally get it hooked on a door handle, you’ve broken your own neck.
Then they’ll go after the trunks at the foot of the bunks.
Mass decapitations just waiting to happen.
The top bunk bed?
One wrong toss or turn and you’re paralyzed for life.
I say we rubber-pad the whole country so nobody ever falls down and gets a boo-boo.

Our new Compassionate Military.I guess they could use Poodles for guard work.
Another cluster f***!
My Rottweiler is the nicest dog I ever owned. Great with kids and everybody.
Note that this latest idiocy from the pantywaist Pentagon comes as a result of a freak tragedy involving a dog and a little girl at Lejeune. It’s like in typical suburbia when a kid riding a bike gets hit by a car on a busy road... here comes the knee-jerk politicians with their new signs that reduce the speed limit from a perfectly reasonable 35mph - - like it’s been for 40 years - - to 25 mph. “There... ain’t we smart? We DID something!”
The Marines are supposed to be better than that.
This is a real head-shaker.
I don’t have a problem with this. I remember a little boy was killed by a rott at Fort Riley when I was there. There was a whole subculture of dog owners....allegedly the dogs were for the wives protection when the husband was in the field. But, these morons didn’t know what they were doing, and it was dangerous to have these dogs in the housing areas. Believe it or not, people in the military don’t store their service weapons, bayonets, etc in the housing area. The housing area is supposed to be just like anytown USA...and many of those anytowns have banned pits and rotts....they are getting more aggressive, and more tragedies are happening.
Actually, a Standard Poodle could tear you up.
The French used them as *very* effective police dogs.
Quite sharp tempered and fearless.
