It Just May be HUCKABEE'S TIME.
Chicago Daily Observer ^ | 10.07.09 | Tom Roeser

As one who has either sat in an audience or on press row for 56 years...... I must say that the performance delivered by Huckabee last night at the Illinois Family Institute was unrivaled. Regardless of what they say about television and the modern communication arts, a successful presidential candidate today still must be able to deliver a stem-winder to a crowd with reason, humor and good English usage.

The year 2008 was definitely not the right time for Huckabee........

But the country has undergone a great change for which Huckabee's views will be warmly welcomed. Not due to him but to Obama. By which I mean Obama's rough-hewn leftism. The country has reacted greatly--gone to the right on social issues (witness the polls showing more Americans identify with pro-life than pro-abortion)... and Huckabee's style... if he will drop the 2008 need to lard us with spending programs to prove his "moderation"...

Pretty soon the left-wing media smear is going to get wise and switch from savaging Palin and Glenn Beck to going after Huckabee. They'll have a much tougher time with him-as they had with Reagan. And they'll have to do it without David Letterman who has been a leading artillery weapon .......

I think it's becoming Mike Huckabee's time. Romney's too smooth, has gone through too many contortions from Massachusetts to now to be credible. Pawlenty may be all right but in many ways he seems far less experienced than Huckabee... If Huckabee continues along this vein, he's going to be the candidate to beat for 2012 because of all of them only he can use his strong base on the social issues without being self-conscious as the others would.

From what I heard last night, America is thirsting for his message. I want to hear much more.

He’s really no different than the current socialist in the White House.

Other than nearly every social issue - from abortion, firearms ownership, the right of parents to homeschool, the traditional definition of marriage, and the fact that he did cut taxes in Arkansas as governor...

If staytrue’s premise is correct that the Republicans have always picked the guy who was 2nd in the prior Presidential primary, then Huckabee would be next.

The final 2008 Republican Presidential Delegate count:
McCain 1575
Huckabee 278
Romney 271

I'm actually ok with Huckabee on most things.

If it comes down to a choice between him and Flip Romney (God forbid!), I would support Huck.

No, not so much. We have plenty of RINO’s. Too many in fact.

I can’t stand nanny-staters like Huckabee.

He’s a non-starter.

Huckabee divided the base against Thompson (who was weak and let him).

He is just a spoiler and we’ll end up with Myth (aka McCain Part II) and Obama for 4 more years.

Huck needs to exit the stage.

If I had to pick between Gonorreah and HIV, I’d pick Gonorreah.

But, then again, maybe we should sleep with whores like Myth or Huck.

Huckabee is another big govt politician, his party affiliation means little to me.

Hopefully, the GOP will see what they did to themselves in the past 2 election cycles, and try something new. Going from all 3 Houses to NONE in just 4 years should be a wake-up call... but they ain’t called “the Stupid Party” for nothing.

I'm a Huckster, however, I recognize that for too many in the GOP base (Freepers), Mike is a place beyond palatable mental consideration. For me, Romney is in that place.

Of all the people in the GOP primary last year: Duncan Hunter, Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul were the only candidates whom I could trust on abortion. Later, when McCain chose Palin, I decided I could trust him too.
