Remember the artificial panic pervading the CBS "Early Show" just a little over a year ago that, for the first time in history, the North Pole may not be covered with ice sometime during the summer of 2008? Well, not only did it not happen but evidence now shows that Arctic ice has been thickening substantially this year.
And who is making that "heretical" claim? Why Andrew Revkin, the New York Times environment writer. On the heels of his recent "heresy" of quoting noted climatologist Mojib Latif's finding that the world will probably be in for a cooling trend for the next decade or two, Revkin's latest report will probably not sit well with the global warming alarmists:
The National Snow and Ice Data Center released its summary of summer sea-ice conditions in the Arctic on Tuesday, noting a substantial expansion of the extent of second-year ice floes thick enough to have persisted through two summers of melting. The result could be a reprieve, at least for a while, from the recent stretch of remarkable summer meltdowns.

The guy upstairs is awesome in every way, including his sense of humor.
Note that the polar bear is no longer the ‘global warming’ media darling- the Caribou is now the mascott- Have read reports declaring that global warmign is causing massive die offs of Caribou (Apparently, Caribou were not able to weather past cyclical warmign events that were worse than what we recently experienced?”) All of a sudden, Caribou are apparently entirely dependent upon man for hteir survival, and just will never be able to adjust to any climate change ‘unlesswe act now’ (by pumping trillions of dollars into an issue we will NEVER be able to ‘fix’ because it’s entirely a natural cyclical process.
Evidently, the poor Caribou are being tortured by mosquitos because the thaw comes a couple of days earlier because hte climate went htrough a warmign trend, and by golly, we’re to blame, and apparently, grass is greenign up ealier, and hte caribou aren’t makign it to feedign grounds in time for ‘the best grass’, and so they aren’t having as many calves, and by golly, we’re to blame.
One has to wonder how these poor caribou- so delicate, so unable to fend for themselves, EVER made it through past global warmign events without the help of man, that had absolutely NOTHING to do with man? All of a suddent they’ve becoem so delicate and needy that they can’t fend for themselves ?

One of my favorite “global warming killing animals” photos: the one
showing the sizeable herd of caribou lounging near an drilling rig

“And who is making that “heretical” claim? Why Andrew Revkin, the New York Times environment writer.”
I’m sure this distraction by the facts is only a regrettable detour for the NYT and it will get back on script, bashing or ignoring the truth when it detracts from The Agenda.
"When oil exploration began in Alaska's Prudhoe Bay 30 years ago, environmentalists claimed it would yield only a "few months' supply" of oil and would wreck the ecosystem. Prudhoe Bay turned out to be the largest deposit of oil ever found in North America. Caribou frolic and play by the pipeline. In 20 years, the caribou population has skyrocketed, from 3,000 to almost 27,100."
I found a link to an archive of the article here.
The enviro-whackos don't seem to understand that...circle-of-life thingy.
Animals die. Humans die. Sometimes in great numbers. It's the nature of nature. Get used to it. Get over it.
Not every animal (or every human for that matter) is meant to or deserves to die of old age.
Given a choice of trusting real world data or trusting Al Gore’s theory, a liberal take the theory every time. I’m shocked that the NYT is paying attention to facts.
SECOND snow of the season hit here in Carson City area this last weekend.
13 inches in Gardnerville.
8 inches in Smith Valley.
Goodly amount around Lake Tahoe.
Here in Montana, it has been snowing all day and this in spite of the el-nino in the Eastern Pacific-—must be due to the lack of sunspots. I shudder to think what winter would be like without the el-nino which is going to dissapate over the next year. If the lack of sunspots persists as in the Maunder Minimum, we will be in for a rough time.
Was that after someone caught the cute little darlings chowing down at the seal buffet—looking like the Canadians at clubbing time?
