Two killed as MiG-23 fighter crashes at Tripoli air show
TRIPOLI, October 7 (RIA Novosti) - Two pilots were killed when a Libyan Air Force MiG-23 Flogger fighter crashed on Wednesday in Tripoli during a demonstration flight, a Libyan Defense Ministry spokesman said.
The aircraft crashed about 2 kilometers from observation platforms at the Libyan Aviation Conference & Exhibition, which runs October 4-8.
It was earlier reported that only one pilot had died.
Production of the "third-generation" MiG-23 started in 1970 and ended in 1985 with over 5,000 aircraft built.
Its various modifications are currently operated by several former Soviet republics and traditional recipients of Soviet arms including Armenia, Algeria, Angola, Belarus, Cuba, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Syria, Turkmenistan, Vietnam and Zimbabwe.

Usually it takes some help from an F-14 for them to crash.
A couple of Libyan raghead camel jocks we won’t have to “take care of”.
MiG-23 is an Air-to-Ground missile.................
Probably shot himself down with an air-to-ass missile.
These POS Russkie planes ought to be banned as a general hazard to anyone underneath their flight path.
I thought the F-14’s were no longer in use. Now a FA-18 would nicely dispatch a MIG.

Too bad for the late pilots. It’s no fun when someone bites it
at an air-show.
The only consolation is specators didn’t get hit.
And they didn’t crack up something really wonderful like a vintage
warbird like a Corsair or Mustang.
I feel sorry for the pilots, too. Their last few seconds must have been terrifying.
The picture in the story shows some type of explosive mishap. What would cause that without a mid-air collision?
The picture (in the story) was not of a MIG 23.
how does crashing of plane produced in the ‘70 impact the sales of modern planes?
