Criminalizing everyone

Needed: A 'clean line' to determine lawfulness

"You don't need to know. You can't know." That's what Kathy Norris, a 60-year-old grandmother of eight, was told when she tried to ask court officials why, the day before, federal agents had subjected her home to a furious search.

The agents who spent half a day ransacking Mrs. Norris' longtime home in Spring, Texas, answered no questions while they emptied file cabinets, pulled books off shelves, rifled through drawers and closets, and threw the contents on the floor.

The six agents, wearing SWAT gear and carrying weapons, were with - get this- the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Kathy and George Norris lived under the specter of a covert government investigation for almost six months before the government unsealed a secret indictment and revealed why the Fish and Wildlife Service had treated their family home as if it were a training base for suspected terrorists. Orchids.

That's right. Orchids.

The USFWS has been over the top for many years. An interesting example of their excesses is related in an account of the 1980ish Operation Falcon, “The Pilgrim and the Cowboy,” in which hundreds of American falconers were targeted in an elaborate, expensive entrapment scheme that produced many arrests and few convictions. I believe another sting similarly took place around 2003 or 2004.

The agency has targeted the herp people, the avian community, insect collectors and others over the years. Their tactics are unconscionable and disgusting. Unfortunately, few have the resources to fight them in the courts.

“The USFWS has been over the top for many years.”

You are correct. http://www.nationalcenter.org/ShatteredDreams.html

“Shattered Dreams: One Hundred Stories of Government Abuse

As Ronald Reagan said, the nine scariest words in the English language are, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.” An important new book, just out from the National Center for Public Policy Research, shows how on the mark the Gipper was. Shattered Dreams: One Hundred Stories of Government Abuse gives a hundred reasons why government left unchecked can harm even innocent, law-abiding citizens.

With a foreword by Ted Nugent and an introduction by Judge Andrew P. Napolitano, Shattered Dreams serves a cautionary note against those who would expand government’s powers and increase its scope over our lives and livelihoods. A team of researchers and experts at the NCPPR provide a rap sheet of government’s regulatory missteps, from the merely comic (like the Minnesota girl harassed for running an unlicensed lemonade stand) to the truly horrific (children ripped from the loving arms of parents whose only crime was wanting a quality education for their kids).”

If you think it can’t happen to you or that “ignorance of the law is not a valid excuse” then read the stories that say otherwise through the link provided above.

What have we become, when knowing our rights is a bad thing? I also don’t understand how the jury can only judge the facts, however a judge can make their descision with empathy. They can legally exclude you for knowing your rights? I wasn’t aware that we have already lost so many of our freedoms (Some I didn’t even know about it seems).
I am so disappointed in our leaders. They should be ashamed.
Thank you for the enlightenment!

Ping to number 82.

Don’t EVER think it can’t happen to you. It CAN!

Families in New Mexico and Eastern AZ literally have wolves at their doorsteps and cannot protect themselves! These so called “endangered wolves” have stalked children in the school yard and walking home from the bus stop but they cannot be shot!

The people have fought back against this all powerful movement for years, unsuccessfully.

Check out, www.farmwater.org. to see the impact of the endangered species as American Farmers have lost their ability to water their crops and are now standing in food lines to get Carrotts from China!! 40% unemployment in the area but the Dems all voted for the fish and the Republicans all voted for the people when this came up in September.

Lye can be made from ashes, if you have the right setup. Takes a bit of time though.

Why do we never hear these stories on establishment talk radio, Fox News or “conservative” publications?

Hannity went after Nifong. Other than that, the GOP is loves their jackboots. So do the Dems. Here in VA we have two prosecutors running for Guv. Think they're campaigning on bringing back the 4th Amendment or reversing the militarization of cops? It is getting exponentially worse and there's nothing we can do about it.

Because whenever it’s a freedom treasured by liberals, half the “conservatives” reveal an authoritarian streak and revel in having the government stop people from doing things THEY don’t like.

Sorry, i don’t need a law to tell me that. IMO there is little about justice in our court system.

You probably know this but you can make soap by using potassium hydroxide made from hardwood ashes. I don’t think they have outlawed ashes yet.

Juries have the right to ignore the directions of the court and to find a person who may be factually guilty of a crime "not guilty" because in their own hearts they either do not believe he should be punished for that crime or they believe that the law is not proper or just or right. The Jury is the final determiner of the law and juries have an intrinsic right to determine that a law ought not to be enforced by finding a person who has violated that law to be not guilty.

It would seem to be worthwhile to protest outside courthouses every single working day, with signs imploring juror to weigh the laws application. It would only take maybe 10 people per court jurisdiction, to do this year around. It would make a huge difference.

Especially once the cat was out of the bag and people found out that they're actually constitutionally expected to do this. Then the people would be more empowered relative to their out-of-control servants on this issue, and we could move on to another issue.
