NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) - The United States is the most admired country globally thanks largely to the star power of President Barack Obama and his administration, according to a new poll.
He believes that during the previous administration of George W. Bush the United States suffered in the world ranking with its unpopular foreign policies but since Obama was elected, and despite the recent economic turmoil, the country's status has risen globally.
"There is no other explanation," Anholt said in an interview, referring to the impact of Obama.

That's why he single-handedly brought the 2016 Olympics to Chicago.
This article is proof positive that all that nonsense about America’s standing with the world, pro or con, is pure bunk. It’s the fiction of lazy newspaper writers.
What a bunch of bull-Obama.
No wonder the IOC denied the Chicago 2016 Olympic bid, it was there way of saying to Obama, stop bashing the USA and its people!
From Marketing Planet:
Whats your countrys branding?
When speaking about marketing, we all know that branding and positioning are important elements. However, who did think about bringing this into the spheres of geopolitics? Well Simon Anholt did so since beginning 2005 when he launched a completely new topic: the Nation Brands Index.
This index ranks various countries and the image the have upon others in the world. How about explaining the fact that some prefer German cars, Italian design, or French cooking? According to Simon Anholt and the company GMI, together Anholt-GMI, these nation brands are far more important than a Nike or Nestlé. It is their vision that with globalisation, “countries compete with each other for the attention, respect and trust of investors, tourists, consumers, donors, immigrants, the media and the governments of other nations.” It is thus clear that as a countrys government or organisation it is important to know where you stand.
In other words, Simon Anholt sells his services as a national brand expert. And I imagine that the White House just bought his services, after last weekend’s fiasco.
That's the attitude America needs to get back. We may not have been winning the popularity contest, but we were feared and respected. The few "Popular" supervisors that I encountered in the military had their troops walking all over them, there was no respect for authority.
My son got mad at me a few months ago and told me he didn't like me, I told him it's not my job to be your friend, my job is to be your father.
This government is winning the popularity contest at the cost of losing respect.
Please.
These things are all bogus.
BTW: Aren't we still in Iraq and Afghanistan? What has changed?
What a load of Reuters! Personally, I don't give a crap if the "globe" admires us or not.
The world loves us when we are flat on our backs. You can thank Obama for that, yes indeed!
Hear! Hear! 100%
"Admiration? I'll show them admiration. They just don't understand us, do they?"
The world loves America when America is on her knees. We were never so popular as 9/12/2001.
And yet the Obamessiah couldn’t talk the IOC in to using Chicago despite the world loving him....
Isn’t it amazing, we’re the most hated country on the planet...yet we have a serious problem of millions of illegals swarming across our borders to get in, of every nationality imaginable...we’re running out of places to put all of them...our immigration depeartment is constantly backed up...our universities are FULL of foreigners...our doctor population is full of Haji’s and Maji’s as well as all other kinds of Asians, you have to speak farci (as JOE BIDEN SAYS) to buy gas or a donut...and on and on and one...
Once again, LIBERALS make no sense whatsoever! And their claims of a hated American are quite frankly BS! As far as Obozo the clown trying to claim the win of a US popularity contest?
THAT’S JUST HOGWARSH!
Shouldn’t the “world” equally love other do-nothing countries?
