Some Chicago officials say anti-American resentment likely played a role in Chicago's Olympic bid dying in the first round Friday.
President Obama could not undo in one year the resentment against America that President Bush and others built up for years, they said.
"There must be" resentment against America, the Rev. Jesse Jackson said, near the stage where he had hoped to give a victory speech in Daley Center Plaza. "The way we [refused to sign] the Kyoto Treaty, we misled the world into Iraq. The world had a very bad taste in its mouth about us. But there was such a turnaround after last November. The world now feels better about America and about Americans. That's why I thought the president's going was the deal-maker."

As a former resident of Chicago, I think it's more relevant to be inward looking. Let's review the facts. There's a beating death of a high school student the week before the decision, Chicago is the murder capital of the US, the city has to close down several days a year, because it's broke, only city in the country with double digit sales tax and it's rising and the politicians are mostly corrupt. Why is Chicago surprised?

IF the US was so bad, then how did they get voted by the IOC to the final four? and when the final four cities were voted on W was preisdent.
I thought the rule in Chicago was to count the votes first and then hold the election. They screwed up with the IOC and it says more than anything about Obozo’z ineptitude that he went to Denmark uncertain of the outcome. No Chicago politician worth his graft would ever put his reputation on the line unless the votes were already counted.
It is, after all, the home of Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Louis Farrakhan, "Reverend" Wright, Barack and Michelle "My Belle" Obama, and many more just like them.

It would be hilarious if they had actually counted the votes, been told it was in the bag and the IOC pulled a switch on them.

Cleveland was awarded the 2014 Gay Games in an announcement made a minute ago in Cologne, Germany, at the Federation of Gay Games meeting. Cleveland beat out Boston and Washington D.C.
Valarie McCall, the chief of government affairs for the City of Cleveland, said the decision was “transformational” for the city. “When you come to Clev-e-land, O-hi-o, U.S.A., we will, we will, rock you,” she chanted.
