A Gloucester attorney is going up against FOX’s Glenn Beck and is defending the creator of a controversial Web site the right-wing yakker is trying to shut down.
The site, didglennbeckrapeandmurderayounggirlin1990.com, is based on a joke originally aimed at comedian Bob Saget. During a TV roast of the former “Full House” star, funnyman Gilbert Gottfried tried to squash rumors that “Bob Saget raped and killed a girl in 1990.”
The Web site was created last month by a Florida man, Isaac Eiland-Hall, after an online post - “Why haven’t we had an official response to the rumor that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a girl in 1990?” - took off in cyberspace.
“We assume Glenn Beck did not rape and murder a young girl in 1990, although we haven’t yet seen proof that he didn’t,” says the Web site. “But we think Glenn Beck definitely uses tactics like this to spread lies and misinformation.”
Beck - a TV commentator, radio host and author - has filed a complaint with the World Intellectual Property Organization, a Swiss-based United Nations agency, saying that the site is being used in bad faith, is libelous and could cause confusion for consumers. Beck’s attorney declined comment, but a source familiar with the case said it’s a trademark issue for Beck.
Gloucester lawyer Marc Randazza, who specializes in First Amendment rights, said Eiland-Hall retained him after getting threatening letters from Beck’s attorneys.
Randazza, who has filed a response with the international agency, said the site is a parody of Beck himself and shouldn’t be shut down because it’s “protected political speech.”
Said Randazza: “Even an imbecile would look at this Web site and know that it’s a parody.”
Wouldn't substantive arguments against Beck's lies and misinformation be a better approach? Wot? They can't refute what Beck says? .. Oh. I understand now.

Soooo...if somebody started a website like.... "didbarrackhusseinobamarapeandmurderayounggirlin1990.com".... or maybe one called "didjoebidenrapeandmurderayounggirlin1990.com"....everyone would automatically know it was a parody too, so it would be ok?

Hey for all his flaws Bob Saget is a pretty nice person.. And did a cute job in Full House..ok I sound gay. But its cause my wife made me watch that show when we were younger!

That vile domain name was registered out of California. This guys lawyer (Marc J. Randazza) lives in San Diego but maintains an office in Boston as well.
Do a quick search and this lawyer apparently has an office everywhere.
