The Irish PM, Brian Cowen, has praised the “clear and resounding” vote backing the EU’s Lisbon Treaty in the Republic of Ireland’s crucial second referendum.

Early returns are showing clear majorities for the “Yes” campaign - just 18 months after voters rejected the treaty first time round.

The EU Commission called the result a “vote of confidence” in the EU. The official result will come within hours.

The treaty is aimed at streamlining decision-making in the 27-nation EU.

And that's it, no more referendums.

If it was/is NO, they'll hold another, then when they get a yes, that's it, no more referendums.

That's not democracy, that's not freedom. That's UTTER TYRANNY.

A year and a half ago the Irish resoundingly voted “no.”

So their betters in Brussels said, “sorry, that was the wrong result, you have to vote again, and you’ll keep voting until you come to your senses and vote ‘yes’.”

I was really hoping the Irish could hold out against the EUroscum.

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - The prime minister of Sweden, holder of the European Union presidency, said there was no need for an extra summit on the EU’s Lisbon reform treaty after Irish officials declared victory for the “Yes”...

...had been suggestions in media that Sweden might call an extra summit to put pressure on Czech President Vaclav Klaus, who has signaled his resistance to signing the treaty despite approval of it in the Czech parliament

EU money and amorality is *killing* Ireland,my ancestral home. Not long ago they were decent,God-fearing people but today they’re just lazy bums who’ll fall for any old line. The “European Union”,along with Communism and the moslem death cult, are the three most corrosive and malevolent forces in the world today.

Yes, “the masses” can be either stupid enough or fearful enough to vote themselves into a tyranny/slavery society.

Unless a national constitution precludes such a vote.

That is why our US Constitution is so vital to our liberties.

And that is why Obammie and his Commies are doing everything in their power — not to shred the US Constitution — but to undermine it, to bleed it to death with the thousand nicks of regulation and bureaucracy (thus the czars and their politburos).

...and so the Irish become the new EuroPeasants!

Just got back from Ireland yesterday and would like to shout 'voter fraud' but the Irish had been convinced that their no vote last time had caused the recession (yes the global recession!) and the yes vote this time would fix it..sad that! - a people who do not deserve freedom - nothing a good famine wouldn't sort out.
