Mark Steyn explains Multiculturalism - 8 minutes. Steyn is hilarious.
Yes this is a super video. Informative and entertaining. Very important. Must see. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for that link. There’s a lot more protein in the Sayet video than in Steyn’s.
Ha ha. Brilliant!
Most excellent. Thanks for posting.
The only factor he left out is that multiculturalism doesn’t really believe all cultures are equal. They believe all other cultures are superior to ours. It’s based not on respect for other cultures (about which as Mark point out they seldom know anything), but on contempt for ours.
For that matter, they seldom know much of anything about our history, culture, etc.
Imagine being able to do that without notes or a teleprompter, and in the process being both informative and entertaining.
Not sure they believe it, but they try to convince others of it. This way, they can get the lumpenproletariat to fight against and weaken the dominan(i.e., successful) culture, and when the time is right, these multiculturalists can step into power. Look at the poverty and race pimps in our own country.
Didn't mean to hijack the thread. Steyn's basically saying the same thing but Sayet explains it in a lot of detail.
>>> Evan Sayet explains liberalism. Long but well worth it. <<<
Thanks for that one too.
5 minutes into it and Sayet is just getting wound up, seems pretty darned compelling and he’s a very good speaker.
I think you give them both too much and not enough credit.
Most people with this POV will never enjoy personal political power, and they know it.
Yet they loathe and despise America and Americans. (Of course, the very fact they feel this loathing excludes them and all who feel like them from the guilt of being American.)
The fact that their core belief is anti-Americanism is the reason they can spin on a dime from being socialist to being multiculturalist or environmentalist.
They don’t hate American because it isn’t multicultural or environmental or socialist. Those are all mainly after the fact rationalizations to explain to themselves the hatred they feel. If one rationalization falls on its face they don’t reexamine the hatred, they just pick up another rationalization.
The whole thing is very odd to me, as America has objectively provided greater freedom and prosperity to more people than any society in history. Seems like the logical thing to do would be to celebrate that fact, not despise the society that created it.
Steyn touches on something that I’ve often thought about. The only places where multiculturalism is taken seriously, and taking place, is in the Western nations. How’s multiculturalism coming along in China or India, or dozens of smaller nations? It’s not to any meaningful degree. Only the West has bought in to this nonsense, but other cultures are happy to use it to their advantage when criticizing the West, or when they want to immigrate to the West.
btt
The video is over 45 minutes long and he gave the whole speech without a teleprompter!
“Only the West has bought in to this nonsense...” Only the liberals in the West, you mean.
Digressing a little... Liberals depend on their ability to manipulate groups rather than individuals, so populations have to be broken down. And “culture” is one way. Other ways are skin color, “sexual preference”, age, wealth, age, etc...
In other words, the liberals would love nothing more than to have groups (in this case, cultures) of people migrate to America rather than “individuals.”
To me this is what it’s about.
For the record, he did have notes, which he looked at once or twice. But the illusion of ad libbing the whole thing was priceless. And the ability to speak like that comes from an intellect that humbles the average citizen like me.
BTTT. Recommended viewing, if one has the time.
It’s refreshing to hear the case made with such clarity.
Sort of the anti-short-attention-span-theater.
Unfortunately, our government and educational system has bought into multiculturalism almost completely. It's not just liberals because few in government or education speak out against it. Silence is agreement in politics and the education.
Sadly, our govt and educational system are controlled by liberals, so they had a leg up. Plus, they get to frame the argument that if you aren’t a multiculturist, you are a bigot and a racist. To foster that perception, they have the luxury of the media to help.
