McCain Recruiting Pragmatists, Moderates to Remake GOP [Manchurian McCain has been activated]
Politico / Politics Daily ^ | 2009-10-02

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is taking the opposite route of most defeated presidential candidates: rather than quickly bow out of national politics, McCain is working to become a transformative force in the Republican Party, Politico reported Friday. Concerned about the GOP's direction, McCain has been recruiting and raising money for candidates who share his pragmatic center-right style.

McCain has been a particularly generous advisor to Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL), who he encouraged to run for Senate and threw a $500,000 fundraiser to support.

What you don't seem to grasp is that we are the party.

We the People have to be, and stay, active in the electoral process continuously, not just at the general elections.

We are responsible for letting a small idiot minority control who gets on the ballots at the local, state, and national, and we are responsible for taking back control of the process.

Anyone attempting to split the conservative vote is working for the communists, whether they know or admit it. Remember Perot? Remember McCain?

Anyone who thinks they can honestly restore Conservatism to the OP wing of the socialist Republicrat party with McAmnesty trying to reshape it needs to stop drinking the Kool Aid.
As I read the tea leaves, Sarah Palin is "Going Rogue." That means that she will be a candidate on the ballot in November, 2012, and the Republican Party will decide whether it will endorse her - or lose to her. As the Republican Party placed third to both Woodrow Wilson and Teddy Roosevelt exactly 25 elections ago, back in 1912.

It seems to me McAmnesty has done and is continuing to do an excellent job of splitting the Conservative vote. Conservatives need to reunite by doing an end run around him with the formation of a party based on strong Conservative principles.

More DITTOS on your post and the original post ... could not agree more...

Palin made Republicans STAND UP and TAKE NOTICE... despite McCain’s confusing politics... DESPITE IT !!! ...

McCain is not mentally well and has not been for many years... the POW experience left him injured... As a Vietnam Veteran myself I say this because - if I ever met John McCain I would hug him and thank him for his service to his country ... but he is not fit for the position of POTUS as any serious sense of perspective has left him long ago.

Don’t forget he tried to undercut Toomey and convince Ridge to run against him in primary..... and I’m positive he is behind both Fiorino as well as Meg in California.

I suggest - not another party — but a strong Coalition of Conservatives - a huge cohesive group of Conservatives who can be persuaded to vote as a Bloc of Voters... Sorta/Kinda like Parliamentary Systems work - where an almost majority party is FORCED to work with other smaller parties to form a real Majority...

Conservatives should work together to Grant their bloc vote or withhold their block vote - ‘cause if we don’t hold together as a group we will always be treated as a Step Child by the RINO’s who control the Republican Establishment.

"There is absolutely nothing Steele can do about McCain that you couldn't do yourself."

And that is, quite simply, a false statement

Steele is the leader of the RNC and in that role can quite easily set a tone that will both shut that traitor McCain's mouth and make him completely ineffective at recruiting more RINO's if he chose to keep this crap up.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid Steele is just as prone to recruiting these supposed "moderates" that got the party into this compromised mess that it's in.

Steele needs to do what's right for America rather than compromising on what he likely sees as the short term goals of the party and I'm afraid he'll see his primary reponsibility as attracting more members to the party at the expense of what's good for the country. And I suppose that's the nature of being leader of the RNC, but it's not what I'm looking for.

So a guy who considered switching parties and running as Kerry’s VP and who’s first choice for VP was Joe Lieberman who’s a flaming liberal on every single issue except National Defense wants to remake the GOP.

Wouldn’t it just be easier for him to switch parties?

McCain does not represent Republicans or the Republican party. He has several primary challengers, and may very well lose in the primaries. I'd rather see his opponents unify and ensure his defeat, but I'm not in AZ. It is even possible that some of the primary candidates are running at his behest just to split existing conservative opposition to McCain, so he can stay on the ticket for the general election. A third party, or fourth, also helps his cause. And he gets all the Democrat vote.

The only way to defeat the RINOs is for Republicans to stay Republican and vote conservative in the primaries.

Well said, sir. Indeed, McCain is triggering the debate, nay, fight we MUST have for the soul of our party.

For that I thank him, but nothing else. It’s on!

He’s talking about Hispanics. Look at the numbers. Without the Hispanic vote, the GOP has no future.

If the Republican Party becomes more like McCain, then I will stay home in 2010 and 2012, just like I did in 2006.

I know, if I don’t vote I don’t have a voice, blah blah blah.

But what difference does it make to vote one party or the other when the trajectory of government is the same regardless. The scope, scale, cost, and influence of government grows every day, regardless of whether Democrats or Republicans are in office. The pace is the only differentiator, and if we are going to hell in a hand basket, I would just as soon it be an express ride.

Without the Hispanic vote, the GOP has no future.

I reviewed your short posting history and found the following:

Beck comes off as a crazier version of Savage.
Without the GOP, there is no America as we have know Her.
Beck isn’t a conservative but a trash-talking opportunist
How can you not support Romney or Giuliani as flawed as they may be on some issues when the alternative is eight years of an out and out communist?
I hope all real conservatives can now see the true nature of Glenn Beck now. He is the enemy inside the gates.
I gave you the benefit of the doubt at first, but with comments like this I am now convinced that you are a Democrat shill.
Many posters in this thread have attempted to explain to you the logical reasons for supporting moderate Republicans
Enough with this RINO hunt nonsense. You people need to start living in a little place called reality.
Would you rather Kay Bailey Hutchison or the Democrat nominee win the governorship?
Serious question: would any of you support a Romney / Palin ticket?
We should fight for a conservative candidate in the primaries, but support whomever is the Republican nominee.
McCain will win handily regardless who conservatives unite behind.
If Republicans go down to defeat so will conservatives.
Conservatives won’t win unless it is through the Republican party.
I predict that the vast majority of conservatives will end up supporting the Republican nominee no matter who he or she is.
If conservatives can’t win the Hispanic vote, we are through in this country.
We’re all in this together.

Bashing libertarians, attacking Glenn Beck, shilling for RINOs and "moderate" Republicans like Romney and Giuliani, accusing established Freepers of shilling for the Democrats?!?!

And you're just a newbie.

Why does every other post of yours smell like ozone???

You smell like a retread.

What was your previous handle here on FR???

Don't you realize you're on a *conservative* Web forum, not a Republican cheerleading post?

We don't like RINOs like Romney, Giuliani, Huckabee, McCain, Graham, and KBH! Oh, and Steele is a RINO too!

IBTZ!
