The City of Chicago was eliminated in the first round of voting, before any host city was selected.
An expert called it the "biggest shock in IOC history."
Supporters gathered in Chicago were equally shocked. Many left the rally in tears.

Zero means just that! Zero! This fraud is a nothing, a zip, a walking nada. He’s accomplished nothing on his own. He’s never run a business. He’s a well spoken leech. This rejection is one of the few good things that have happened to Chicago in a long time. (so in reality BO did them a favor) (Daley must be pissed)

I am glad Obama got heismaned by the IOC but I do feel sorry for Rio if it wins it. Brazil is still a 3rd world country where huge sections of the population do not have basic services and infrastructure yet the Brazilian gov’t is intent on spending billions of dollars on a two week Carnivale.

I was thinking same thing—USA’s joblessness might not recover enough by then to support traveling/hotels/food purchases. Watching the TV would be the alternative for most—if they even bothered.
