Too weird how Obama’s arrival interrupted Glenn talking about corrupt politics in Chicago and the Olympics.

Pinglet!
Thanks—I live in Chicago area, so it has been Olympics, Oprah,Daley, Michelle, and now bama 24/7 for the past week. Ugh.
Sadly, I would have been happy to have the Games here in US if it wasn’t a vehicle for political payback on part of Daley et al. The more the politicians are involved, the more apparent it becomes that this has nothing to do with sports, athletes, or world competition and everything to do with money and power.
No, he won’t get out of our face!
NO GAMES CHICAGO
__________________________________________
No Games Chicago has sent the same team who went to Switzerland In June to meet with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to Copenhagen to do it again.
We arrive in Copenhagen!
Our purpose then and now is to take a simple message to the members of the IOC the people of Chicago do not want the 2016 Olympics. 84% of them, according to a recent poll conducted by the Chicago Tribune.
45% dont want the games under any circumstances and 84% dont want public funds used for the party. Since the city has already spent or committed over $240 million for the games (see our tally below), that threshold has already been crossed.
Hence 84% of the people of Chicago oppose the bringing of the 2016 Olympics to Chicago, Thats a big number, too big to be ignored.
We didnt come on a chartered jet and were not wearing clothes designed by the First Ladys dress maker. No TV crews saw us off and none will welcome us back. We did grassroots fund raising up the last moment to pay for the trip.
When we went to Switzerland in June we took 100 copies of our Book of Evidence (download your very own copy 12MB PDF file) that laid out our arguments as to why Chicago would not be an ideal host for the 2016 Olypics. Each of these arguments has been strengthened by developments since then.
Were well armed with new evidence.
Will the arrival of President Obama blind them to the defects in Chicagos bid and the angry mood of the people who feel abandoned by their government?
Will the press continue to fawn over the bid team and repeat their spin as gospel?
Stand by for further details.

Hold mah calls..”
Some of us are capable of chewing gum and rubbing our tummy at the same time. Hold your enemies closer. I want to hear their rap.

Awww .. we should take out our hankies for Rahm ...
“The latest: Sen. Dick Durbin, who is accompanying Obama on the flight to Copenhagen, said that White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel was reluctant for the president to make the trip because of his busy schedule, coupled with the unresolved health care legislation.”
http://www.chicagotribune.com/
~~~~~~~~~
But then he contradicts that with more pithy Rahmtalk:
###
Rahm Emanuel, the Chicagoan who is chief of staff for Obama, has an answer: “You know, we’ll make sure they get some good seats once Chicago does host the games.’’
ABC News’ Jake Tapper reports on a talk with Emanuel about the administration’s strategy for securing the games at Friday’s meeting of the IOC in Copenhagen.
What’s the pitch?
“There’s no better city in the United States or the world to host the international community than Chicago — because of the diversity,’’
Emanuel said. “You’re going to bring literally the whole world together for Olympic games, sports games, and competition. Chicago’s a great competitive city — has always been that. It has a great amount of diversity and it would be great for Chicago also for not only its diversity but for the economic opportunity that it provides in the sense of jobs and economic growth.
Different from Rio or Madrid?
“Nothing against them, but Chicago is what none of the other cities have and this is again what I think the president’s remarks will be, not saying anything negative against them, but you’re bringing all the world together... The world will feel comfortable given the diversity of Chicago all the different ethnic communities are there...’’
“It will be an affirmative argument for the United States and the city of Chicago. Nothing against anybody else. Obviously we’ll accentuate where we think the strengths of voting for Chicago is an advantage.’’
How about assuaging any concerns the IOC may have about Chicago?
“His main point is about the international community. It’s about why America is reaching out to the world.’’
What tipped the scales in convincing Obama to go
“Other leaders around the world are going to make their pitch for the four remaining cities. We didn’t want to have Chicago or in this case not have that edge, not have that kind of level playing field with other countries.’’
And for those critics of the president’s trip?
“First of all, one is they work on a number of issues in their day,’’ the chief of staff and former congressman said. “The president will work on a number of issues.
“Today he met with his economic team, on the economy, on a jobs agenda.
Two: he has been on the phone working health care with individual senators.
Third, he made a statement on Iran with what was going on there...
“I don’t remember them, I don’t remember them criticizing President Bush when he went to China to watch the games and cheer America on.,’’
Emanuel said. “Here we’re going to go to Denmark to help secure the games for here in the U.S.... They shouldn’t try to make politics of this. I think they should take some pride in the US’s win, and you know we’ll make sure they get some good seats once Chicago does host the games.’’
What if Obama fails?
“First of all that’s not how he views it... It would be good for the US, for America to host the world here in the US with a great city, given Chicago’s diversity and economic capacity to host those games and make it a world class event.’’
So, what’s the line? I’ve got 5 Rush 50 Beck on Rio. Third World’s chance and all that.
LOL .. Beck says the social justice choice is Tokyo .. reparations for the Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Just seems the Chicago team must be awfully confident with his excellency and wife flying over there.
The ABC live streaming coverage previewing the presentation just started now:
The group is just entering. Odearlord .. MO’s dress is awful.
but...it's gold..LOL
Since Chicago has no money then my guess is that there would be taxpayer money going in to fund it all. So it is just another way that Obama can bail out his crooked friends.
How do we know that he didn't, they did have two planes.
;)
Daley says Chicago should get the games b/c of Jesse Owens?? O-kaaay.
And they'll be hearing from me AGAIN. I'm sick of those a%%holes interrupting an important show for this moron.
Crazy .. and the di-verrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-sity highlighted in the films.
Daley just cannot speak .. sounds so uneducated and uncouth and like the bull he is.
Hey Mayor .. Chicago is broke! I read they spent $100M on this bid.
This is terrible so far, IMO.
I don’t get the angle of making it “for the children.”
Gag.
And don’t forget, “Chicago is safe...”
(If one stays away from railroad ties?)
Is it only the US—or does the world too—annoyingly and persistently refer to the ‘Olympic movement’? Either way, it’s the point at which I am completely off any Olympic bandwagon.
