LINCOLN, Ill. The former son-in-law of Beason resident Raymond "Rick" Gee was arrested Thursday afternoon in the deaths of Gee and four other members of his family.
Christopher J. Harris, 30, of McLean County, was arrested and is being held at the Logan County jail. Gee, 46, his wife, Ruth Gee, 39, and their children, Justina Constant, 16, Dillen Constant, 14, and Austin Gee, 11, were found dead in their home on Sept. 21.
Harris was formerly married to Nicole Gee, Rick's daughter, who did not live at the home. Nicole Gee was granted a divorce in March of 2007 based on "grounds of mental cruelty," and she took Harris to court in May seeking modification of child support, court records show.
Logan County Sheriff Steve Nichols would not rule out more arrests. Authorities also confiscated a 1989 Ford Ranger pickup truck, owned by Harris, that matched the description of a truck seen in the area after the murders.
Exact charges will be determined by the Logan County State's Attorney, Nichols said.
Beason, a town of about 200 people, is about 10 miles east of Logan.
First the beating death of that high school student, now this. Chicago seem to be going through a crime wave.
Ditto.
Thug Alert.
Chicago 60606?
Except that this didn't happen anywhere near Chicago.
Actually it was two in the past week. The kid who died getting beaten with chunks of a railroad tie and having his head kicked in, and now a 14 year old chased down and beaten with a piece of pipe by a handful of thugs in broad daylight.
Beason is nowhere near Chicago, it was a small town of 200 that lost it’s High School in the late 60’s and it’s Junior High in the early 90’s.
Beason is about 10 miles east of Lincoln and 25 Northeast of Springfield.
I understand that. Chicago just seems like an evil place in a number of ways, but then again, many cities are.
The zip code is just kind of ironic.
It’s terrible whenever anyone is murdered, but especially when the victims are children. 16, 14, and 11...
I did a search and found that another child - a three year old - survived the attack.
Yesterday, I sent a letter to the editor of the Chicago Tribune and Sun-Times, about Chicago’s gun ban. I said that we shouldn’t have a gun ban because it didn’t decrease the murder rate. The criminals go to other towns, buy guns, and bring them to Chicago, knowing that their victims can’t shoot back and defend themselves.
About 2/3 of black babies and 1/3 of Hispanic babies are born out of wedlock. When only one parent raises a child, it’s harder to teach the kid morals. When that happens, many of those kids become criminals.
