He is talking about classifying a illness as a pre-existing condition, only some states outlaw that. It’s a complicated issue, not one for the feds to screw with lightly.

“But here’s a news flash: It’s already illegal for insurance companies to drop patients once they become ill.”

Only a decade?

He does this a lot. Takes credit for things not his own doing.

But here's a news flash: It's already illegal for insurance companies to drop patients once they become ill. It has been for over a decade. The American people should take note, as President Obama is using this non-existent crisis to justify massive federal intervention in America's health sector.
And proposals to raise the age for benefits under Social Security ignore the fact that they were raised -- over thirty years ago.

“Fr. Frank Pavone
National Director, Priests for Life
A lot of energy was expended to stop the “Freedom of Choice Act” (FOCA), and those efforts succeeded. But pro-life groups warned that the FOCA provisions to expand abortion and force us to pay for it would be snuck in under another bill.

Well now it’s here, and we have to act quickly to stop it. The health care reform bills now being finalized in Congress are going to end up mandating the federal funding of abortion without even mentioning the word ..”

Keep calling your reps and tell them you don’t want this bill, because it is a Trojan Horse for FOCA.

But here's a news flash: It's already illegal for insurance companies to drop patients once they become ill. It has been for over a decade.

Here in New Hampshire, an insurance company was going to drop a young college student with cancer because her coverage was through her parents' policy as a full-time student, and the cancer treatments forced her to cut back her course load and lose her full-time student status.

This resulted in the passage of HR.2851, signed by President Bush just last year. So it's imprecise at best to say that it's been illegal for "over a decade."
