The family of a Knoch High School golfer wants the school to fire its golf coach because they say he threatened their son on the team bus.
South Butler County School District spokesman Vic Morrone said Wednesday the district suspended coach Rob Voltz while investigating the Sept. 18 incident and allowed him to return Monday. Morrone said district officials interviewed everyone who rode the bus.
"Based on our investigation, not only did the coach apologize to the student, but the student apologized to the coach as soon as they got off the bus. We thought the matter was resolved until we got a letter from (the family's) lawyer," Morrone said.
Voltz, who teaches eighth-grade science at Knoch, referred questions to Pennsylvania State Education Association spokesman Butch Santicola.
"He (Voltz) has apologized to the student and his family. Other than that, we have no comment," Santicola said.
"We want a real investigation," said attorney James L. Cook III, representing Joe and Suze Boros of Saxonburg and their son, Jack, 15. Joe Boros is head golf pro at Treesdale Golf and Country Club in Gibsonia.
"We are seeking his dismissal," Cook said.
At the very least, Cook said during a news conference at his Downtown law office yesterday, Voltz should be required to undergo a mental health evaluation and anger-management classes "to ensure he is fit to coach as well as teach."

They won every argument that way.
Me and a bunch of guys I work with used to agitate an old ex-union co-worker. He would get so angry, he would fly off the handle and throw his hat or something else at the ground and storm off. We’d laugh our asses off.

Poor wittle Johnny, he got his wittle feewings hurt!
God, today’s parents are raising and entire generation of losers, wimps and victims.
I am trying to picture my shop teacher (who would get so pissed he would throw big tools against the wall) in “anger management” — he would probably have beat the crap out of the anger management teacher!
If I had come home and said “I disrespected the coach and he threatened to beat the heck out of me” my mom would have said “you would have deserved it.”
The school of hard Knochs.

How many years have you been waiting for that one...?
(LOL)
Obviously...you are a PA ‘beach’ to know the correct pronunciation...LOL
Is the kid’s daddy the son of golfer Julius Boros? Sounds like the kid is a golf brat.

To his credit, the kid apologized on his own (according to the story).
The parents are the brats in this one.
and he still came home crying?
I think that there might be two people here who need a little counseling.
Damn, when I got home I knew a second round of corporal punishment awaited me.
“Bend over & touch your toes”
I don't know, if any teacher berated my child for saying something as eminently reasonable as what this kid said, I'd sue his ass, too.
Actually, I think if you lived in PA, and were familiar with the school systems/teacher union, you may have a different opinion (although I do agree that we are raising a bunch of wimps).
In PA, teachers are allowed to strike, but by law must complete 180 days of school. By completing the 180 days, the teachers get most of their salary (all but 5 days worth).
They usually don’t strike at the beginning of the year; rather, they pick a random month, and may even “strike” more than 1 time per school year. One such district did pick the beginning of the year, and the kids ended up going to school over Christmas break, and straight through until June 30. IIRC, another district did 6 days per week in order to meet the required amount of school days.
Also, PA public school teachers have a very strong NEA union, with high salaries, massive benefits, and tenure. I’ve always said that in order for a teacher to get fired, they’d either need to be convicted of murder or of sexual relations with a student. Otherwise, they are pretty much untouchable, which translates into the bad teachers keeping their jobs, and the administration not bothering to do anything about poor performance. The inmates are running the asylum...
i wonder if the father is Julius Boros son and Guy Boros brother. Guy plays on the PGA but he is a fatso which hurts his game.
"Jack said, 'Well, if the teachers don't like their jobs, they should find new ones.' This inflamed the coach," Cook said.
Cook claimed Voltz sprung from his bus seat and turned toward the teen and yelled, "Shut your mouth, or I will come back there and beat the (expletive) out of you."
It really pays to look into the facts of the case.
This kid was absolutely right and the coach is a childish union thug.
democrats do not understand your poiont.
Now, how many rats do you know that are not losers, whiners or wimps??
ZerO.
