And how many 7 year olds stuff envelopes for political candidates?
I did a yahoo search and I did find several other boards that posted the newsmax link and were commenting. The posts are entertaining.
Most of those I read seem to think Perry is an ultra-right wing extremist and that all conservatives are nut cases hell bent on destroying the country. I did read lots of love for the country and the presidency, even though not all love obama. Some encouragement there.
I saw this on fr last night and it surprised me...even more surprised to see it still here this morning.
Hmm...the times they are a-changing.

I just ran the link I posted multiple times in the thread and it defaults to the NewsMax INDEX. Apparently, the brave “patriots” at NewsMax took the story down early this morning. Still looking.
I DIDN’T WRITE THE ESSAY. JOHN PERRY DID.
NEW LINK TO IT HERE:

I suspect the fates of those who conducted the operation would depend on how intolerable condition had become here during the run-up to the event wouldn’t it?
Here’s a quote on the subject from a BLACK AMERICAN from around 150 years ago that you’ve probably never read.
(Notice that he said DEMAND, not REQUEST!)
“Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate
agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground.
They want rain without thunder and lightening. They want the
ocean without the awful roar of its waters.
This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical
one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a
struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never
did, and it never will. Find out just what a people will submit
to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and
wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue
until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both.
The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those
whom they oppress.” Frederick Douglass August 4, 1857
Douglass was talking about SLAVERY.
SO
ARE
WE!!
You posted it so you read it and obviously took it to heart. Let's look at his solution:
"Imagine a bloodless coup to restore and defend the Constitution through an interim administration that would do the serious business of governing and defending the nation. Skilled, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars. Having bonded with his twin teleprompters, the president would be detailed for ceremonial speech-making."
OK, so you have Admiral Mullen as de facto head of government, ably assisted by the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Now what? What happens from here on in? When and how to you replace your 'interim administration'? Do you hold a new election? What do you do with Obama? Do you jail him? Prevent him from running again in your replacement government? Otherwise, what it he ran again and won again in your new election? Or is your 'interim administration' permanent and will every future president share power wiht the Joint Chiefs? If so, then who will appoint the Joing Chiefs? The very man they're sharing power with? What's to stop him from stacking the deck in his favor and appointing military heads that will keep him in power?
So John Perry wants the military to take over? Obviously he hasn't thought it through. Neither have you
Complete bunk - isn’t going to happen, unless Zero is stupid enough to declare martial law. Even I don’t think he’s that stupid.
As another poster correctly pointed out, anything like this would HAVE to originate at the very top. And as another poster rightly remarked, these guys are as political as anyone on Capitol Hill or they wouldnt have made it to the top.
Having said that, they ALSO have NON-MILITARY families and extended families who would suffer in a renegade, Constitutionless, totalitarian regime which history teaches only gets worse and more oppressive with time.
I sincerely believe that these traditionally honorable and honor bound men would do what they felt was necessary to keep that from happening lest their failure to act make a total mockery of their careers and lives.
The few Ive ever met among them the late General George Olmsted (my wife worked for him in D.C. back in the 60s) and the late General Lew Walt, USMC would rather eat their service pistols than stand aside while the nation and the Constitution to which they swore that oath was systematically dismantled (as it is as you read this).
Just my opinion.
BTW, I ASSUME YOU ALSO read it.
Does that mean you also “took it to heart?”
I suggest you immediately withdraw from FR and NEVER READ ANYTHING ELSE AGAIN.

Uh, me for one. It has never crossed my mind that our military would mutiny en masse and take control of our government. I think more highly of them.
And in your opinion what would be the answers to any of the questions I posed earlier.
I was using that scenario if the country were to become despotic.Who isn’t thinking of that possibility? That is what the author of the article was getting at also. Funny how you chose to take my comment out of context.
Best case? Another George Washington (who rejected efforts by the congress to make him a king and voluntarily left office at the end of his term) COULD emerge from the process.
Worst case? An American FIDEL CASTRO.
My reading of Perry's piece is that if Obama IS heading to be America's Castro ANYWAY (and from here, it sure as hell looks that way to anyone with half a brain), we're better off to roll the dice and take our chances.
I suspect you may have been one of those who held that what we're now suffering through “could never happen here.”
Since it has, it's entirely possible that Perry's scenario COULD as well. Just because something has never happened before doesn't mean it can't, does it?
No, I'm one of those who doesn't think that the military will or should trample all over the Constitution in order to 'save' it. And if Perry is so damned smart then why didn't he think his scenario all the way through? Removing Obama is the easy scenario. It's what comes next that is the tough part. Too tough, it appears, for your military genius Mr. Perry.
The Newsmax story was pulled.I called customer service and was told that it was removed because of âCustomerâ complaints.Yeah RIGHT.Wake Up People.
RE :”That’s a bit racist. ‘
No more than exit polls on cable networks, including FNC.
The thought that the military would want to take over this mess of a country is laughable, then add the civil war it causes. The military can barely run the military.
So you’d prefer certain slavery to a risk that we might have to again fight to regain our freedoms.
Sure glad you weren’t living in Lexington in 1775. You’d probably STILL be quivering under your bed in a fetal position.
This conversation is over. Have other things to do.
And in case you missed the news flash, Newsmax pulled Perry’s column due to COMPLAINTS from the public.
Wanna bet that “public” lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?
Damn, there goes that troublesome FIRST AMENDMENT!
If you’re happy and you know it, clank your chains!
RE :”Funny, coming from an appeaser. Enjoy, comrade. ‘
Appeaser?? Whose side am I on today?
