Oh joy. Please God, help us relocate by then.....
COLOGNE, Germany The Federation of Gay Games announced this afternoon that Cleveland will be the site of the 2014 games.
The city was chosen over Boston and Washington, D.C., after a year-long site-selection process, the organization said in a news release issued at 1 p.m.
"Cleveland demonstrated to the Federation of Gay Games that they understood the mission of the Gay Games and our principles of Participation, Inclusion, and Personal Best," said Kurt Dahl, of Chicago, and Emy Ritt, of Paris, FGG Co-presidents.

Thanks, after having grown up in Cleveland and seeing it go through a lot, it is a great city, lots of immigrants 30 years or so ago.
Like any large American city, it has a major ghetto with the major DEm Plantation and thug mentality. Going through certain areas, we never stopped for red lights.

In the early 1980’s a town in Wyoming was able to stop a gay rodeo when county commissioners argued that mosquitoes would bite spectators then fly into town and bite residents, spreading AIDS.

Andy, I live in an area not so differnt from you. Glad to say I am 30 miles from Cleveland. What a scourge on all that use the “near Cleveland” in conversation.

You must be thinking of the city where the G20 just met.

One would think even gay athletes at the highest level would want to be the best-in-the-world and not be reduced to best-in-the-world-among-a-much-smaller-population competition.
This is like defeating senior citizen mall walkers in a foot race. The talent pool is reduced. Compete with everyone and make it a real contest for fastest and strongest.
I'm thinking it is more an excuse to hook-up socially. My advice is to avoid Cleveland hotels around that time.
All sorts of weird things will be happening. Not that there is anything wrong with that! ;-)

I understand entirely. I loved the very friendly people I met in the Cleveland area, and wound up marrying one (we’ve been together for 20 years). As usual, it’s not the people - it’s the awful, corrupt politicians who have destroyed it. I should have do so, but failed to make that distinction.

it didn’t help Cleve’s rep when our Mayor’s hair caught on fire when he was smoking a cigar at a press conference...nor when the Cuyahog River caught fire from the pollution..HA!
I miss the pink flamingos on the lawns in Parma!
And of course, the Westide Market.
Yeah, the politicians and the Libs and ghetto thugs ruined it.

I know the towns up and down that route (SOM Center Road). I went to Case Western Reserve Law School and used to head down to Kent State for various weekend events in order to get out of Cleveland proper for a while.

LOL... I liked the Flats in the early 80’s before it went to hell. small break in the 90’s due to Jacobs field (sigh) but so short lived.
Now, I am an Eagle member and like the small town pubs in the immediate 3 mile radius.
