The State of New Jersey is now mandating every school child be vaccinated, otherwise they will be kicked out of class. This ABC news report covers the story
I agree this is not at the level small pox and polio was, but my point is that there are times when desperate measures are needed to protect the public.
I personally think that OBAMA is making this out to be a bigger crisis than it is.
We see patients here with flu like symptoms. We do a swab. They test pos for Swine flu. We put them on the antiviral and they’re fine in three days or less.

“...but not autism or SIDS.” Interesting (?) how the rates for autism are now said to be 1 in 150 children. I should check to see what the rate is for NJ children. I’ve been telling folks for several years that the KGB moved its headquarters to Trenton; this draconian law is just additional verification. Notice that the state didn’t pass a requirement to just keep kids home if they’re sick.
Maybe NJ voters are interested in changing the status quo...I guess we’ll soon find out.

First, there have been confirmed cases of swine flu at my daughters’ school. A few weeks ago, she got sick. She had a mild temperature and a terrible headache. She felt better, and then tanked with a terrible running nose.
The doctor said it was just a cold because she didn’t have a high fever, but didn’t do any tests.
I’ve heard some cases of H1N1 being mild. I don’t want my kids to take a vaccine if they have already had the illness.
This is unconstitutional.
And a violation of the so called “patients rights under the DHHS. NO American citizen can be forced to accept medical treatment without actual consent. PERIOD....

What is the Patient’s Bill of Rights?
Here you will find a summary of the Consumer Bill of Rights and Responsibilities that was adopted by the U.S. Advisory Commission on Consumer Protection and Quality in the Health Care Industry in 1998. It is also known as the Patient’s Bill of Rights.
The Patient’s Bill of Rights was created with the intent to reach 3 major goals:
to help patients feel more confident in the U.S. health care system; the Bill of Rights:
assures that the health care system is fair and it works to meet patients’ needs
gives patients a way to address any problems they may have
encourages patients to take an active role in staying or getting healthy
to stress the importance of a strong relationship between patients and their health care providers
to stress the key role patients play in staying healthy by laying out rights and responsibilities for all patients and health care providers
This Bill of Rights also applies to the insurance plans offered to federal employees. Many other health insurance plans and facilities have also adopted these values. Even Medicare and Medicaid stand by many of them.
The 8 key areas of the Patient’s Bill of Rights
Information disclosure
You have the right to accurate and easily-understood information about your health plan, health care professionals, and health care facilities. If you speak another language, have a physical or mental disability, or just don’t understand something, help should be given so you can make informed health care decisions.
Choice of providers and plans
You have the right to choose health care providers who can give you high-quality health care when you need it.
Access to emergency services
If you have severe pain, an injury, or sudden illness that makes you believe that your health is in serious danger, you have the right to be screened and stabilized using emergency services. You should be able to use these services whenever and wherever you need them, without needing to wait for authorization and without any financial penalty.
Participation in treatment decisions
You have the right to know your treatment options and take part in decisions about your care. Parents, guardians, family members, or others that you select can represent you if you cannot make your own decisions.
Respect and non-discrimination
You have a right to considerate, respectful care from your doctors, health plan representatives, and other health care providers that does not discriminate against you.
Confidentiality of health information
You have the right to talk privately with health care providers and to have your health care information protected. You also have the right to read and copy your own medical record. You have the right to ask that your doctor change your record if it is not correct, relevant, or complete.
Complaints and appeals
You have the right to a fair, fast, and objective review of any complaint you have against your health plan, doctors, hospitals or other health care personnel. This includes complaints about waiting times, operating hours, the actions of health care personnel, and the adequacy of health care facilities.
Other bills of rights
This bill of rights focuses on hospitals and insurance plans, but there are many others with different focuses. There are special kinds, like the mental health bill of rights, hospice patient’s bill of rights, and bills of rights for patients in certain states. Insurance plans sometimes have lists of rights for subscribers. Many of these lists of rights tell you where to go or whom to talk with if you have a problem with your care. The American Hospital Association has a list of rights along with patient responsibilities that can help a person be a more active partner in his or her health care. The attitude on vaccines certainly does seem to be following the ‘stages of truth’ paradigm: first it is viciously attacked, then laughed at and discredited (or is it the other way around/), then accepted as truth. Just as recently as a few months ago if I posted anything negative about vaccines on this very forum I was attacked as a kook that wanted everyone to die from communicable diseases and go back to the dark ages. I am definitely getting a different vibe these days- from everyone.
Many people have come to me or my husband in the last year or so. They usually pull aside and say ‘I don’t want anyone else to know this, but I think you may be right about this after all.’ It’s usually because they or someone they know, or a child, has had some problem after a vaccine. A little bell goes off in their head about something they remember us saying and they come to us wanting to know more. Then they start doing their own research and end up pretty angry about the whole thing!
There are benefits and risks to every vaccine.
My husband’s old boss lost a daughter who had a negative reaction to the DPT vaccine.
However, I wish there was a vaccine for RSV. It’s the leading cause of death in infants in this country. There is a treatment for premature babies, but it is expensive and takes a long time.
If there would have been a vaccine for RSV, it would have prevented my daughters from almost dying and one of them has permanent brain damage.
I’m very thankful for the whooping cough vaccines because if my daughters got that, they would die.
I just think you have to seriously consider the risk and the benefits of each vaccine. You have to look at who is at risk for complications from vaccines (or an illness).
If someone in your family has a bad reactions to a vaccine, then mayby you shouldn’t be taking it.
You have to look at the ingredients to determine if there is anything you are allergic to.
We’re going to give it our best shot...

Taking away our right to choose to get or not get the vaccine is not the answer, not to mention unconstitutional. Getting the vaccines will kill some of us and our only hope is to avoid them. For example, people with cancer who are using Alternative Methods to treat it, that rely very heavily on bolstering the immune system. Knocking the immune system down with vaccines, even temporarily could be fatal. And getting an medical exemption would not be possible because most states don’t recognize Naturopathic Doctors, only MDs. MDs cant or wont practice alternatives to chemo, radiation, or surgury. My family had the so called swine flu. We were uncomfortable for a few weeks but we survived it just fine with our healthy lifestyle and we stayed home so as to not infect anyone else even though we were not showed that courtesy.

Here’s a way to stop this; start a rumour that one of the severe side effects to this immunization is conservatism. Within 24 hours after receiving the injection, recipients are mysteriously drawn to watching Glenn Beck, listening to Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity!!!
Sorry to break it to you but your niece doesn’t have any hope. The government regards the children as a state resource and they will soon possess absolute power over their little lives.
I might have to encourage my sister in law to take my baby nephew back with family in the Philippines. Unfortunately, that’s off the table right now because of the typhoon.
My husband has been battling a wicked case of bronchitis for abput 6 weeks now & my daughter has a bad cold.
Having heard that the flu is often mild, I am wondering if they actually might have it.
I sat with my husband for 5 hours at our local ER last night.
There were several others with this nasty bronchitis, but all the time we were there I do not recall anyone uttering the words “swine flu” even once.
My husband just called from work ( we’re in NY ). They got a memo that lots of the flu vaccine have been recalled and you have to go on a waiting list because they don’t have enough.
Not that he was going to get anyhow, but just an FYI.

If you don’t give your children the required inoculations they can have Child Protective Services remove your child from your home.
That would be a surprise to say the least. Unfortunately, I'm convinced that NJ voters like their democrats too much to vote in a republican, much less a conservative.
My daughter had rotavirus - that was a month of pure hell! For some reason she didn’t get the vaccine when she was supposed to and contracted it at daycare as far as we know. Only Pedialyte for 2 weeks, man was that rough! Don’t even get me started on what the diapers were like - strong smell of burnt popcorn and sewer gas (it seemed like she was being cooked from the inside out literally), and the rude mood she had for two weeks was almost unbearable!
Not something I’d wish on anyone. She got the vaccine shortly thereafter because there are 4 of 5 strains covered by it (IIRC) and we didn’t want to see her or us go through that again if we could prevent it. What is your main concern with the rotavirus vaccine?
